Hi Nan,
I enjoy your posts,

Thanks for visiting my thread.
I felt that this place is so special that it would just be wrong not to at least give those who want to look,
a view into my special place on the world.

Thom

a special place indeed! this thread has been bringing a bright spot to me daily during a time I have needed it. I can't thank you enough! ~hugs~

Here is a rare view into one of the canyons.
Rare because there aren't as many as you might think who would risk the edge of a sandstone cliff to take one like this.
That is Highway 141 from Gateway to Grand junction in the bottom.
My favorite part is the skyline. But I always like to watch a storm come in.

LOL

aaahhhh we think alike my friend. There is nothing like being in the desert and watching a storm come in.....the feel and smell of the air...the incredible power displayed. Thanks for sharing again!

I love to watch a storm rolling in its so invigorating, and relaxing!

The only real problem with a storm is the amount of mud one of these things makes in a very short time. There is a lot of bentonite in the soil out here and the roads turn to a snotty greasy type mud that clings to everything and is very treacherous to drive in. The water will penetrate the first few inches of soil and then the top turns to a soupy mess and you can really get in trouble quick.

lol true story! Quite fun if you are out playing where there are no other cars, dropoffs or sharp curves.......of course not out doing that much when the fuel prices are where they are now and folks always busy but remember doing it as a kid out at the back side of our place.

I remember doing stuff like that as a kid too! And trying to walk and sinking to my knees! Shoes ~~ one lost and the other ruined, but gee it was fun!

I can't remember all the knots I got on my poor flat little head for getting into that kind of mud.
Ever since then I have made a point of doing it every once in a while just because....

LOL
