Hey Thom,
I had to start at the beginning of the thread just to see all the pics again. It's strange but looking at those pics makes me feel home sick like I do when I look at pics of where I lived until I was 11 years old. I know it's odd because I've never been west of the Mississippi river. Thanks again for going through all the trouble to share such a beautiful place with us.

I did get him to sign my copy of the book! His last name is the same as mine so I was callin him Uncle Bob! lol David got several copies so he could sell some of them but my own copy is signed and he is just a sweetheart and I absolutely LOVED the book too!

Thanks for looking and posting on this thread.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. There are some places in the world that just seem to draw you to them.
Kind of a dejavou feeling and they just keep pulling until you are required by the heart to go there.
I am most fortunate to live in one of those places.

My Grandfather was always fond of saying ...
This part of Colorado is like a beautiful woman,
She woos and entices and courts you...
she steals your heart.
When she has you in her clutches you are hers for life.
And to leave her would be as much a sin as cheating on your wife.

After all these years, I am a believer.

The view is tremendous,
kind of nice to have a photo of something you wouldn't otherwise get to see.
People yell about the drilling rigs,
but they also use the heck out of the things they bring.
especially the access roads. The drilling and exploration has done far more good than harm.
Some times I think people are just too short sighted.

I have been following your posts on this website for quite some time. I don't post much myself yet, as I've promised myself and my family I would quit smoking before I bought my first MD. I find all this Spanish trail lore absolutely amazing. I don't suppose they made it as far north as southern Ontario, eh?

You are truly a gifted individual and if I ever had to move for some reason CO would be the place. I'm also an avid outdoorsman and fly-fishing nut.

Love your scenery shots, I read all your other posts about your adventures "on the trail" and the one where you describe various markers and signs to help others in their adventures. Keep up the good work bro!

Welcome aboard Trout,
The Spanish prospectors were not that keen on following the rules. They were told only to do their thing inside New Spain, But Cynangel has found signs in Oregon where she lives. It wouldn't surprise me any, to find Spanish stuff where you are, they were here for almost 350 years.

I had to make a get away for a few hours yesterday and got as close to the sky as I could.
I spent a big part of the early day coming to grips with the idea of a very dear close friend of mine who has lukemia, and they don't expect her to make it through this weekend.

So I went to the best church I know of, and discussed it with the Boss.
While I was up there I took close to three hundred photos. I made sure that some of them were the kind you guys expect from me.
Here I am looking across the canyon. That little dot in the turn out at the bottom is my truck.

We spent that day doing pretty much the same thing although I did not hike quite so far nor take quite as many pictures. Did take about 100 pics though and did a lot of talkin to the the boss. I did enough hiking to come home pretty tired for this old lady though! lol Hang in there my friend...still praying for her and the family and you of course! That is a great pic by the way.....I love it and how it puts so much in perspective. Thanks for taking the time to share it with us! ~hugsnprayers~

Thanks for the reply Thom. I'll have to look into "Spanish in Ontario" but somehow I doubt they would find anything of interest in the generally flatness of sourthern Ontario LOL. Not much mining to be had around here....

Sorry to here about your friend. Sad news indeed. Just think of the grand view she'll have from up there.... My father was diagnosed with prostate cancer about a year ago. Went through laser treatment and then surgery to get it. Now (about a month ago) they have discovered another cancerous tumour about the size of a baseball. Yup, colon cancer. Things not looking good, so I feel your pain.

Off for a quick search of anything Spanish..... hang in there bro.
