Cyndi,
That is one of the reasons I love it so much.
You can go out in it and not see another person for days,
and when you finally do see someone he is far enough off that if you don't want to speak you have plenty of time to avoid the problem with no insult taken or intended.
A guy could get used to this openness out here.
Cabin fever to me is a really big thing.

Thom

Here are a couple of shote on top,
The first is a lone marker in the open bad lands.

The next is of an OLD juniper stump that was trimmed down with an axe a long time ago.
The Spanish used to do this to clear trails, they would leave the stumps as markers to guide mule trains moving across the plateau.

I seriously would love to live in a place like that... dreams can come true..

thank you
Rae

Evy,

I am very much in tune with your plight.
I have been in the same position and didn't like it much either.
I grew up with open spaces.
I literally get ill and physiologically sick if I am away from them for too long.

I have become more than attached to this country.
there are a few who will tell you I am truly part of it.

LOL
Thom

I cqn beleive it, this is why I look forward to any time we get off work, and can afford to go anywhere!
That little circled area is 2 doors down from us were behind tree :D then we both work within 2 blocks of where we live! :tongue3:

Rae,
Thanks for looking, and for your very kind words.
If you were to see it up close and really see it ...
you would be in a speachless state for quite a while.
This place will leave you breathless with it's beauty and variety.

I have lived here most of my life and it is in some ways like going into a Cathedral...
and to break the silence by speaking would ruin the whole scene sometimes.

I believe I said it in an earlier post,
This is where God comes for his quiet time.
I am glad I can make a small piece of it a place for you all to come and experience...
if only visually.

this may be the best way to see it as it is extreme in temps and weather conditions.
This place is not for the faint of heart.

Thom

yo Old Dog

From the land of the Bluenose....breathtaking and awesome. Lord makes some down right pretty areas on this earth!

Hi Leslie,
Thanks for looking,
Some folks can't see the beauty for all of the sand and cactus. LOL

Fortunately there are a lot who can.

Thom

Here is one that will show how the light plays with the desert as it moves across the sky.
I love to watch the desert at different times of day.

Your so lucky Thom...
How i would love to wake up to that every morning, with a cup of coffee in my hand...
Beautiful!

Trish,

The only way I can wake up to it is to stay out in it.
Regretably even I have to travel to get to it.

The last photo is about 15 miles from my home as the crow flies
But well worth the time.

I have a tendency sometimes to make excuses to go up on my roof though
Just to see a sunrise or set or catch a glimpse of the overall view in general through the day.

It has been really good this last week as I have been able to get out in it a couple times.
refreshes the soul and revives me for a while. LOL

Thom
