Thought I'd Dug a CW Artillery Fuze-Joke Was On Me!!!
With Dman still on I.R. but improving and Tenn. Josh working to catch up his taxidermy business, I made a short two hour hunt close to home. Heavy rain expected Sunday and early next week. I have recovered a friction primer and other artillery artifacts in that immediate area. Notice the round gray item in the pic. The center was filled with dirt. It was lead and had threads around the perimeter. I thought "another fuze". However, with a little cleaning I knew what it was as it had gasket material around the bottom. It was a plug for a water tank used for cattle. I just stopped and had a good laugh. I've had WAY more than my share of luck this year.
Notice the iron "Full cheek jointed snaffle bit" in the pic. Dman and I usually dig them only in Colonial sites here. Maybe my friends Creskol (Rob) and Kuger (Cody) can tell us why and identify the round ring. Any info. on the pocket knife would be appreciated. There were WW2 army maneuver bullets nearby.
My best find was a nice dropped .69 cal. "Big Boy". Those sound so good and that made the trip a success. I never tire of digging bullets as I've heard some of you say that too.
Let me be the first to wish all of you HAPPY HOLIDAYS and may 2012 be a Banner year for you. HH, Quindy.
Dman and I will be present at the Nashville (Franklin) CW Show on Sunday. I'll have my Tennessee Trio Relic Hunter cap on so if you are in attendance and see us please say hello. Dman will be the only person there on crutches-LOL.
Watch for Buckleboy's article scheduled to be published in the February issue of W & E Treasures Magazine. Knowing him and his writing ability, you won't want to miss it. He's written one on cleaning buttons-a subject he's very knowledgeable on but maybe he'll tell us if that's the one to be published then.
My 2011 CW Relics to date = 305 +11 Colonial relics
