Three Large Coppers and a Silver Kicker

Today was an absolutely beautiful Fall day here in Massachusetts, and I was fortunate to have some time to go detecting. I spent the better part of four hours working my way through a 10 acre wood lot that borders a pond. The signals were scarce, but there was very little trash, so it made for easy going:



By the end of the hunt, I had managed to find three large cents and a good looking 1901 Barber dime:

I was very excited to unearth the three large cents. Two were Draped Bust (1798 & 1802), and one was a no-date Matron Head:



The Draped Bust coins are in pretty good shape given their age, and one of them has a counterstamp:

All in all, a pretty great way to start off the month of October. Thanks for looking. Happy hunting all!

What a day you had! Do you know if there was a home or farm there at one time, or is the acreage just never-developed woods? Three old coppers in one day is fantastic, and that silver is a nice bonus. Glad you have some searchable woods. I am a little reluctant to detect woods right now except on Sunday due to hunting season. Be safe and good luck. Congrats!

Thanks very much lenmac65 and everyone else for their comments. This property is across the street from an old farm ( 1750's). I'm assuming that the land was used for crops or grazing cattle back in the day. Given the size of the lot, I'm hoping that there will be more to find. I'll keep you posted.

That's a well-kept forest with little underbrush making it good for MDing, although there are probably plenty of roots. The finds are very nice and the cleaning and side-lit pictures are top notch.
