Detector(s) used
Garret Ace250/Prospecter Bounty hunter(Backup)
Long story short.. I had to go help my mom move this past week. It is roughly an hour and a half drive. I stopped at a local park on my way out and found a dainty little sapphire and diamond ring made of 18k gold. Missing one sapphire, but what the heck.. I was pumped because I had JUST turned on my detector. Thought it might make for a lucky day. I found a bit of clad and moved on shortly thereafter.

A couple of small towns later and I decided to hit a park I have been wanting to hit. Saw a lady out there with an Ace250 and talked to her. She was very kind and was trying to dig the signals she was getting with a plastic composite spade of sorts. I let her did with my MightyAP digging tool for awhile and she was thrilled. She told me that there had been a bluegrass festival there the previous two days and my mind was all over the place. Literally.. I kept thinking about where the stage was and where most of the people would have been etc. She also told me the whole place had been full of RV's so I hit the perimeters of where they were parked and the clad started rolling in pretty good.

Then it happened. Dug a nickel signal and saw the light shining off a square cut stone set in a band and a huge rock on top. My heart was racing as I was thinking I had just found about a 3 carat diamond ring. I sat on the ground and literally had to calm myself before I cleaned any soil off of it(not from my pants) and looked at it...I must have let out a WHOOP because the lady came over and asked me what I had found. I showed her the end of the plug and she said, "Dear Lord you hit it big!!!!", and I had. I had hit a BIG Cubic Zirconia. ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH :P I have dubbed it the Heart Attack Ring and never want to find another one! I haven't used such choice language in quite a long time as I did the first fifteen minutes I walked away from that park.

In the following week I hit my usual places in short bursts and found just one more junk ring and clad. Somewhere in there was a '59 wheat. I found some huge 12 and 14 ounce lead fishing weights used for sturgeon but they went into my tackle box before I could take pix.

I did get in about 6 or 7 hours of total hunting time while away. My net take was....
an 18k sapphire and diamond ring, 54 quarters, 66 dimes,22 nickels, 111 zincoln cents, 3 Saq dollars, and one 1959 wheat...plus a Guatemalan Quetzal worth about 7 cents :o LOL
I hope you all enjoy the story and here are the finds.

~Nash~

Way to go Nash ;D ;D

Ahhh, that ring is what us "water/beach hunters" call "NITRO'S" - due of course to the fact that they generally require a nitroglycerin tablet to keep from having a heartattack.

As we say on our beachhunting forums, "they should outlaw those kinds of rings!!!"

Nice finds though and a beautiful 18K ring - >14K rings aren't all that common to find so you did well :)

:D Nash, I must say, you had me worried there for a while. Haven't seen you on here for a bit and I thought maybe the Cops came and picked you up again. hehe Glad to have you back my friend! Nice finds you got yourself there. That CZ would have busted my butt, too. The real thing is a coming for you, just hang in there. :D

WTG, I know how you feel about the ring, last summer I was detecting my aunt's front lawn and got a nice signal. Dug down, flipped the plug over and out popped a huge mens ring. One huge stone in the middle surrounded by thirteen little ones. I was so excited at the find, thinking it was all diamonds, I left my detector on the lawn as I ran inside to clean it off and show off my latest find. To my horror, the stones were actually glass :( and the band was only gold plated, but it had me for a moment or two.....and my detector was still there when I returned. ;)

Hey Nash!
When it comes to rings, I'm not choicy! I'll take Cs, Zs, anything! :)
Good job hanging in there!

I'll race you to the defibrillator ! The treasure gods have a sense of humor and the joke is on us. I just found out my first diamond solitaire is worthless. Your lottery ticket is always a winner right up until you check the numbers, then you buy another ticket... Looks like a successful hunt.

Keep looking, it's out there,

Tek

Great story. Nice finds

W :o W! That's a whopper of a ring, as BDoo says a "heart stopper". Overall, some excitement for ya! A great assortment of clad too, looks like a mighty good haul.

WTG Nash.Small or large, 18K is a pretty exciting find.Ive a couple of those"Giant gems"myself...the excitement isnt worth the letdown.
A great hunt nonetheless....Joe

Great story Nash! I really enjoyed reading it .
I can see were you would call it a heart attack ring, even knowing your story I was like WOW when I saw the picture of the ring. I would have been dreaming up visions of a new car upon selling that puppy. Alas, if nothing else, the ring makes for a great detecting tale.
Congrats also have to go out for the gold ring, and being 18k it's all that much sweeter.
Finally, thumbs up for the very respectable amount of clad you brought in.

I wonder if that Blue Grass festival is held at that park every year, it might be worth looking at again next year.

Thanks again for an entertaining post.

Happy Hunting,
Johnny Cache Hunter

18K baby!

CZ's happen. At least the real ring is gold.

Congrats on your adventures and finds!
