Time to sell?. over $22 today...$24..ummm... at $25...$30...$35..$46.66 huh!

Now isn't that the million dollar question? Ok, maybe the thousands of dollars question.
Selling now at $21 and change would be great, if this is near the peak of this run. Of course its horrible if silver climbs to $25...or $30...or $964.
So how do we predict? Anyone got a magic 8-ball? Ouija board?
I sure don't have a clue, but fortunately (or more accurately unfortunately), I haven't accumulated enough to even worry about it. However, if I had $4-$5K in face lying around, I'd probably sell a small portion of it.

I'm holding out myself. I think the economy is still headed South, which should mean precious metals are still gonna go North. Just my opinion.

I'm with Legend on this one. $20 silver is the new support level. I think we will see $25 before year-end. If Republicans do well in the elections in November, precious metals might fall and the stock market might rally. There are, of course, lots of "ifs" and "mights" in that line of thinking. But I see no reason to think that silver and gold are not headed higher for now.

I was under the impression that it is better to sell in November and then buy back in early May? But if I was looking to sell I would start selling the 40%'ers and keep the 90%'ers for later.

You're right, it's very tempting! My immediate plan is to have a couple of $500 lots of 40% all packaged up and ready to go. I'll watch the market closely, and cinch another deal with APMEX when the time feels right. $10.40 for the flat-rate USPS box, and another $30 or so for insurance. APMEX buys $500-face lots at a slightly lesser value/rate than $1,000-face lots, but it sure is easier to package and manage a $500-face shipment weight-wise. Plus, with a smaller lot, if the silver value continues to go up after I contract to sell, I won't be kicking myself over it as much as I would if I had sold $1,000.
One of my concerns with waiting too long to sell off the 40%ers relates to the new reporting requirements for PM's that are coming down the pike for next year.....

If silver holds at its present rate, I will be selling my 40%ers in a couple of weeks. Don't have the volume that most have here on the Net, but it is still profit nonetheless. I gotta pay for a wedding and a few extra thousand would come in handy now.

Hard 2 talk about silver and not get political. Well if you do some research and look into what has happened when money has been printed [or made] you will see that it has almost always inflated. When money gets inflated real money [gold and silver] go up. If you can find where and when in history that this hasnt happened please email me so i can research it. By the way this has been happening since money has been invented. This cycle is not new to fiat currencies but has been happening for over a thousand years give or take. The only thing different this time is that the whole world is doing it.

I'm going to hold on to my silver. In the past I would trade my 40's and 90's for better coins. Now though. I'll be holding on to the 90's, and trade my 40's for silver dollars(Eagles,Maples)
I think silver will continue to rise,but if one needs the cash,then go for it. Nothing wrong with making a profit.

Always a good idea to trade 40% for 90%. Gives you more space, but you still got the silver. I might have to do this in the near future.

In addition to upgrading, I'm a collector of old time commemoratives. They are always an excellent investment. 90% silver with very small mintages.

As much as I don't want to. I'm selling some of mine.

and $50 in 90%
Don't want to but have some bills pop up lol. Such is life. at least I still have my horde.... um I mean "collection" to fall back on.

I keep the 90's and sell the 40's also. Then I buy .9999 coins or bars and put them in the safe for a rainy day.

This is such an interesting topic ! I always like the idea of selling 40%ers - when silver is high ,
and holding 90%ers , and .999 - although as others have mentioned , sometimes you gotta do
what you gotta do - and this involves selling the good stuff - hey, life happens - Argentium.
