Today's find was good enough to cause me to register!
I have been reading this board for a few months now, after my brother KD5TXX got me started hunting. He is always calling me with his finds, and I usually just don't have the time to hunt like he does. I think my best day previously was about 12 40% halves, not bad, but nothing worth getting terribly excited about.
Well, that changed today. My luck was good enough today to cause me to register here, instead of just continuing to lurk!
I had some time this afternoon, and was on the road, so I stopped at about 7 banks in my old hometown looking for halves. First bank, no halves. Second bank, I bought $34 of halves and all but the last roll were skunks. Last roll had 12 40% halves... A good start!
After that, I went by about 5 more banks, and either they had no halves, or they were all clad, or something. I ended up with 1 more 40% out of those five banks. Still not great, right?
Then, I stopped by one more bank, and wasn't really expecting much. They had $7.50 in loose halves, and two rolls. The loose halves were all clad, and the first roll I opened had someone's initials on it. I was expecting to get skunked again. When I poured the halves out into my hand, though, they were ALL silver!! 16 1964s, 2 40%s, and a 1950 Ben Franklin!
(I decided not to complain, but this roll only had 19 halves in it instead of 20. I thought complaining to the bank might be pushing my luck... 
)
I quickly checked the other roll, not expecting anything (it was in a different type of paper wrap). ANOTHER silver roll! This one was almost all 40%, with 3 1964s in it!
My total for today was:
19 1964 halves,
32 40% halves, and
1 1950 Ben Franklin half.
This was BY FAR my best CRH day! I am hooked now!
PS- KD5TXX called me to say that he found two rolls of 90% halves and 3 40% today too. Today was a great silver day for both of us!
