My Pop used to say...

"Tough times don't last near as long as tough people do."

Today's Quote

Adversity is another way to measure the greatness of individuals. I never had a crisis that didn't make me stronger.

Re: Today's thought

I'm always right, it's the rest of the world that just doesn't get it right.

Re: Today's thought

Life's journey, is not , to arrive at the grave, safely in a well preserved body,
but, rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out and draggin, shouting,
HOLY SH*T......WHAT A RIDE

Re: Today's thought

Grayson Chesser ; reknowned Eastern Shore decoy carver and rural philosopher , when asked why he didn't go into politics ...
"Hang on there , Son !... When I have endeavored every avenue of gainful employment and failed ; then ,and only then, will I admit myself to be a total failure in life and engage in politics for sustinance ."

Re: Today's thought

Here are a few....

“When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe .” Thomas Jefferson

"The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.” Thomas Jefferson

“It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.” Thomas Jefferson

“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” Thomas Jefferson

“My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.” Thomas Jefferson

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” Thomas Jefferson

“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.” Thomas Jefferson

In light of the present financial crisis, it's interesting to read what Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:

“Banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”

Re: Today's thought

"Friends are relatives that you make for yourself" ..... Eustace Deschamps (c. 1345-1406)

Why can't men think without sticking their tongue out of their mouths :icon_scratch:

Re: Today's thought

The old kids' chant of "Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat" sounds really good if sung to the tune of "Edelweiss" from The Sound of Music. But if you do, there's some danger that it may be stuck in your brain all day long.

Re: Today's thought

What is etched on a stone monument is not what you leave behind, it is what is woven into the lives of others.
