I FINALLY SNAGGED A SEATED!!!!! :headbang: Might not seem like such a big deal to some of you, however, to me it is. A seated coin has been on my wish list ever since I started detecting 3 years ago & it finally came today. Honestly, if the world DID happen to end today as predicted, I would die a happy man :hello2: In the last two weeks alone, I managed some amazing feats; first, I scored my first dime trifecta last week. The next day I found my first half reale & today the seated dime...I'm still in shock :icon_shaking2:

Todays tally:

1877 CC seated dime
indian head (can't get date)
buff (can't get date)
1924 merc
cool charm

That seated dime is awesome :icon_thumleft: Its also probably worth more than 50$

Awesome find ! And yest it is still a big deal to most of us even if we had found many .

If you want to clean up that IH just boil some peroxide About 60 sec in small dish microwave. Drop it in and repeat that about four times they come out nice . I have ton the same with my LC"s . ROB :coffee2: P>S dont put coin in micro Just saying.

1877CC seated dime. In what I would describe as AU condition ... or better! That's one heck of a way to find your first seated dime, njnydigger!

I believe your avatar just received an update.

I don't believe others realize just how great a condition this coin is. Looks to have lots of original mint luster still there. Full head, full shield, no visible scratches to my eye. Might be banner condition coin there!

Please post another photo of the coin after you've cleaned it with Q-tips and acetone. Acetone will only remove organic debris on the coin, and will have no effect on the silver at all. I'd betting it may be uncirculated.

Whattaya kiddin' me! Of course it's a big deal! Awesome find, not to mention ANY coin minted in Carson City is a BIG DEAL!!! Way to go! :icon_thumleft:

WOW! Awesome condition on that seated dime! WTG

Nice Seated Dime...and a CC to boot! Good Job! :headbang:

those are real nice. i'm still working on finding any silver quarters.

nice job!!! as stated above, either dip that indian in hot peroxide or start scraping at it with your thumb nail. I can see the green patina through the dirt (top left near rim) and I think you are going to be VERY shocked at how much detail you actually have under that layer of dirt/mud. Trust me, I speak from experience. I dug two indians that looked the same and I was bummed. The thumbnail tip came from someone on here and within 2 minutes I was staring at a gorgeous 1879 with amazing detail. I think the buff has the same issue, a few minutes of nail work and it will be legible.
clean it up and then post pics for us!!!!!!!!

Sweet coin.

Still looking for mine.

In prime area and found everything else but seateds.

Congrats

congrats on your first seated! :hello2:

I remember my first, thought it was going to be a merc....ended up being a beautiful 1888.

You got one heck of a nice coin for your first Seated coin...looks like it was lost soon after minting.
On that IH cent you can heat some hydrogen peroxide for about 30 seconds in a non metal container and then drop the coin in it for about 3 to 5 minutes at a time and rinse in between soaking to check on the progress of how it is turning out.
This process works very well on IH cents and you might not want to remove all of the green patina... sometimes you lose some of the detail and it gives the coin a better appearance than removing all of the patina.
I'm sure you will be able to get the date off of it after trying this.
Felix
