I received a phone call today that I'll never forget. A frantic phone call from a friend that said there was a house on fire on 8th street. I thought to myself?? No way that would be my son's place. This kind of thing always happens to the other guy. My wife said that she was going to go investigate. 20 minutes later the phone rang. As I picked it up I was terrified by the sound of her voice. She was in tears saying that Jason and Jenneles house was on fire. I broke down and ran out of the house. It was a 3 alarm fire and the temps were around 0. I think that was one of the longest days of my life except the 2 times I was waiting to go into harms way in Somalia and Saudi Arabia. Thankful to God, they were not at home. The weather was 0. A bitter day in Ohio. Wind chills made it 20 below. What a way to ring in the New Year
Words can't say enough, especially when the fire fighters had the worst job ever. They were covered in ice and the EMA had to come in to set up warming stations for everyone involved. I nearly had frostbite. I stood in the cold and shed some tears and watched in horror as everything they owned went up in smoke. I hope that if you are reading this that this never happens to you or anyone one. I wouldn't wish this on any person in the world. The smell of burnt rubbish and all of your belongings is an awefull smell and sight. Luckily they were not home and sleeping. . Be safe and never take life for granted. They had 2 cats. As they were knocking the house down, they ran out. We captured one and the other is still missing. I have 2 of my own and love animals. We will return Sat. and have a reward out for the other. If this won't make your day miserable, I don't know what would. They are living with us now until they recover. Thanks for looking an I am sorry to put this here under these circumstances. The only thing they have is the clothes they wore to work. Ron
I added some pics of one of the cats that survived. The other pics is what's left. We have been digging and salvaging some things, not too much but items that didn't get burned as the fire started upstairs and towards the street. Thanks for looking and keeping us in your thought's. Ron
