Some people don't want this hobby exposed and don't want new people getting into it...I welcome you and your sons to this great hobby. As a father of 3 young boys I find the show an excellent form of entertainment that we all look forward to watching. With all that's on TV today, it's nice to know there's an hour that we can get together, watch and I don't have to feel bored because it's a mindless cartoon or awkward cause my 5 year old's looking at a woman with a huge rack hanging out (not that I ever complain). We first caught the show early this year and the boys loved it. We've recorded all the episodes on the DVR and watch them regularly. It inspired us to buy 3 detectors to which we use together a few times a week. My middle son and me just did a father-son camping and detecting trip in Strasburg, Va. That's a memory that will live on long after I'm gone. Also, I sent Tim (Ringy) a comment and he responded and sent the kids tokens that they loved.
I just don't like the fact that they get to hunt these sites that no one else is allowed to hunt, kinda like watching these so called great deer hunters hunt these ranches where the deer are tame and the stands are baited and ready to go before they ever get there. Who couldn't do that in a set up situation. I would rather watch the diggers go to public areas and so forth and find stuff that anyone would be allowed to look for. So I really don't get to enthused about any of their finds.
I was lucky enough to meet KG and Ringy earlier this week. They were filming on site at Ft. Adams in Newport, RI. There is no doubt that they get to detect in spots most of us can only dream of. Before I recognized them, I was pissed that I left my V3i at home b/c I briefly thought MD'ing was allowed there.
All in all, the guys were awesome! They posed for a photo with my family and gave us souvenir tokens. They seemed like just a couple of normal guys to me.
I can't wait to see what they found at the fort. While we were on tour, one of them dug a WWI officer's button - definitely not planted. They told us the show would air in 2014.

See, this is some of the garbage I was referring to in the beginning. There is no need to start yelling "hater" and all the other crap. People are free to like or dislike the show, but comments like those only serve to fan the flames and begs for the other side to respond and continuing the circular fighting.
There is no need to start yelling "hater" and all the other crap.
Gee guys, I don't remember "yelling" anything...please point out an example of my "yelling" something.
So persons can say they don't like the show, or the cast acts stupid, or any other criticisms and you think that is fine, I guess...but if I post something in defense of my opinion of the show you call it "all that other crap". That is not quite fair is it? I did not call your opinion "crap". I can usually tell who is the mistaken party in any disagreement by the way they exaggerate the other's statements. You have accused me of "yelling" and I did not, the only thing I am guilty of is making my point in funnier way than you thought of in making your point, so I guess you just don't understand humor...maybe that's why you don't like the Diggers show...Notice, again, I did not "yell" anything this time either.
Despite our differences on TV shows I wish you lot's of luck in all your hunts, and, "may all your chosen sectors be filled with delicious nectars!"
Yeah, but.. but... now everyone is going to want a Garrett machine and dig everything up and ruin it for everyone now! Where is that horse again?
