As a father of 3 young boys I find the show an excellent form of entertainment that we all look forward to watching. With all that's on TV today, it's nice to know there's an hour that we can get together, watch and I don't have to feel bored because it's a mindless cartoon or awkward cause my 5 year old's looking at a woman with a huge rack hanging out (not that I ever complain). We first caught the show early this year and the boys loved it. We've recorded all the episodes on the DVR and watch them regularly. It inspired us to buy 3 detectors to which we use together a few times a week. My middle son and me just did a father-son camping and detecting trip in Strasburg, Va. That's a memory that will live on long after I'm gone. Also, I sent Tim (Ringy) a comment and he responded and sent the kids tokens that they loved.

Wish someone would teach them to dig proper holes. Noobs are going to copy them and get more areas banned.

KG and Ringy are just to normal dudes that are lucky enough to do what they love on T.V. . If I got to hunt the spots they hunt and find the stuff they find sign me up. At least these guys are not planting stuff in the ground, except for that one where the found the gold coin. We may not all have the same personalities or opinions so its hard to like everyone, or envy them ?? I wish these guys the best if luck !!!

Some people don't want this hobby exposed and don't want new people getting into it...I welcome you and your sons to this great hobby.

I also welcome you to this great hobby! As part of team ATC I can attest to the fact that you and your boys are why KG and Ringy like doing the show. They could care less about the nay sayers and the ones who say they are doing it wrong. I assure you all that they have been detecting for a very long time and know how to extract the juice from the earth properly. I can also attest that the gold coin was indeed not planted. They actually found several old coins in that small patch, a seated dime and half dime. Tim was baffled but wasn't complaining lol the owners let him keep the coin also. Bonus!

Well..... all I can say is that all of us here on t-net are living the dream when we get out and hunt for treasure. We were way cool before the T.V shows hit. I admit I get fired up when on the hunt and find something. I am an avid fisherman and Archer but do not watch any of those shows either. Caught a few episode so I would know the hype and was fine with it. I like living the dream not watching it.(I do have a GoPro head cam) I see my buds on here finding stuff and think man I gotta get out and hunt! haaa
The show is cool and has brought good interest to the hobby. They really get some prime real estate to hunt. Good for them. I would hunt with them and will admit I have dug some pretty big holes in my time. My yard looked like Caddy shack when I first started many moons ago.
:tongue3: I like watching Aquachigger on Youtube. That guy is a relic machine.

I just don't like the fact that they get to hunt these sites that no one else is allowed to hunt, kinda like watching these so called great deer hunters hunt these ranches where the deer are tame and the stands are baited and ready to go before they ever get there. Who couldn't do that in a set up situation. I would rather watch the diggers go to public areas and so forth and find stuff that anyone would be allowed to look for. So I really don't get to enthused about any of their finds.

It would be fun to watch them try to find a place to detect
and get harassed by some yahoo who doesn't know Jack and have the copscalled, on them for "suspicious activity" lol

I was lucky enough to meet KG and Ringy earlier this week. They were filming on site at Ft. Adams in Newport, RI. There is no doubt that they get to detect in spots most of us can only dream of. Before I recognized them, I was pissed that I left my V3i at home b/c I briefly thought MD'ing was allowed there.

All in all, the guys were awesome! They posed for a photo with my family and gave us souvenir tokens. They seemed like just a couple of normal guys to me.

I can't wait to see what they found at the fort. While we were on tour, one of them dug a WWI officer's button - definitely not planted. They told us the show would air in 2014.

When I passed my Amateur Extra class license in 1975 (my other hobby), I felt the same way as Digg'n. I don't think my feet touched the ground all the way back to work!

As I said in another post, if I hunted like those guys do, I wouldn't find anything! Sort of like a fully chromed engine compartment—if it don't go, chrome it! It is only entertainment.

See, this is some of the garbage I was referring to in the beginning. There is no need to start yelling "hater" and all the other crap. People are free to like or dislike the show, but comments like those only serve to fan the flames and begs for the other side to respond and continuing the circular fighting.

Gee guys, I don't remember "yelling" anything...please point out an example of my "yelling" something.

So persons can say they don't like the show, or the cast acts stupid, or any other criticisms and you think that is fine, I guess...but if I post something in defense of my opinion of the show you call it "all that other crap". That is not quite fair is it? I did not call your opinion "crap". I can usually tell who is the mistaken party in any disagreement by the way they exaggerate the other's statements. You have accused me of "yelling" and I did not, the only thing I am guilty of is making my point in funnier way than you thought of in making your point, so I guess you just don't understand humor...maybe that's why you don't like the Diggers show...Notice, again, I did not "yell" anything this time either.

Despite our differences on TV shows I wish you lot's of luck in all your hunts, and, "may all your chosen sectors be filled with delicious nectars!" :icon_salut:

That's just it, you aren't "defending the show" you're are attacking people for having an opinion different than yours. Why do you care if someone thinks they act stupid? They aren't attacking YOU so you have no justification in your statements against them.

Yes, even though we disagree about the show I have no ill feelings against you. GL and HH.

Yeah, but.. but... now everyone is going to want a Garrett machine and dig everything up and ruin it for everyone now! :laughing9: Where is that horse again? :tongue3:

LOL I swear I bought the ATP just before the show came out... And after watching the first episode wanted to sell it for the same reason :icon_scratch: in no time every swinging arm on the beach had an ATP in their hand.
I will admit I do record the show now and watch commercial free... I've learned to like the guys for their comical humor like American Pickers and similar you can learn something too.
BTW I don't take my ATP to the beach :laughing7:

I enjoy there show as they show respect to the hobby, while showing the not too serious side also. On their latest episode I have detected in the same area and have had great success. Matter of fact I'm taking a boat ride early next week to try the area again. In my opinion Diggers is the best metal detecting show on the air. There seems to be an abundance of detecting shows cropping up lately and Diggers sets the bar. It does make it tough for hobbyist like me dealing with some property owners though. Maybe I need to produce my own show to open up certain properties to me and my hunting partner. Watch for me on you-tube. Just kidding, really.

Hope everyone finds themselves in the nectar sector soon.

I think that it is a great show and I also think that the guys are much more serious in real everyday life. They are having a blast, getting paid to travel all around the country doing something they both enjoy. It is a TV show and the show's producers determine what is actually shown on TV. There is no doubt that it takes several hours of the guys doing their thing to get enough for a 20 minute show. Does anyone truly believe it would be better if all MD-ers were depicted as dull, uninteresting, self righteous know it alls who think that all MD-ers must act only a certain way and never show any joy in what they do ?

They use the at gold on all the episodes I've seen. I love the show but hate how they dub in the detector sounds when they pearly have their phones plugged in. Oh we'll still better than another survior show.
