this was a two day privy
Dig that turned out to be one of the best digs in a long while. it was very hard to find because it's been so dry lately. but once we did find it it ended up having two feet of fill on top. once we got down into it it ended up being about 10 foot by 8 feet wide so we had to call for backup but that's fine because it turned out to be a worthwhile rectangle stone-lined privy that started in 1920 that had a 6 foot use layer. also had the privilege of metal detecting the dirt that the guys were pulling out. here are some of the highlights that we recovered. the homeowners ended up with 4-5 boxes full of bottles. I will update the pics once I get everything cleaned up it's going to take a while but thank you for looking!

Awesome man, congrats. Nice finds, nice memories.

Are you saying that the Mexican Cap and Rays reale is fake? Thats a sweet Loiusville Glass Works half pint, Is the clasp hands a quart? Intact? Congrats on the great flasks!!

I would be so scared of a cave in, what stops that from happening? That buckle is so cool, any info on that? Age, where it came from? the design looks like a Omega Watch cover I found, interesting. Congrats on some very nice finds, great work.

Great work and great saves! Thanks for posting.

WOW! Great dig! Thank you for sharing those great photo's ... inspires me :-)

Okerraine, how do you go about finding a privy o dig, just through research?

That Louisville Glass Works is a SCARCE find!!! Man, your cap and rays 8 Reales is the real deal. Man, what a KILLER dig!!! You're making me jealous, and that is the mark of Quality!

-Buck

That 8 reale looks good to me, I buy plenty of them on the net. It should be 27.07g weight. There was a over date variety for 1833.

The reale feels and looks correct, but the weight is 17.5 grams. Maybe because it was eaten up in the privy?

dang that's a deep hole. excellent finds!

Yes uric acid will oxidize silver

WTG on the finds!! The buckle is totally awesome!

man the reale looks good, I am no expert but looks real to me. The rest of the digs are awesome as well, you must be one happy camper right now.
Congrats again,
ZDD

Even with weighing light, it still looks right, It spent along time in that hole in that corrosive environment. If it was mine and in my hand probibly the first thing I would do would be clang it down on my counter top and see how it sounded. I know you know what silver sounds like. I do that sometimes with some i buy online, just to be sure. Either way its a damn sweet coin.

Great results from the digging out the privy, the coinage is some nice icing to the great bottle finds.
