Hello All,
What you see below is two hunts worth. Went out after the ice storm in Louisiana to dig with Shanegalang but he couldn't get to the site due to road closures.
So we dug some silver without him. But he made up for it Big Time when he joined us later on for a hunt where he struck Carson City silver! I have never dug a CC minted coin. Nor have I ever seen one dug. So this is a first for us, and an unusual find down here. His 1876-CC Seated is quite an excellent coin for condition. DiggerGirl also got some nice finds with a 1943 Quarter, Amusement Token, and especially her find of a Picket Pin!!
I scored a little silver with two war nickels and a mercury dime. It has been fun digging all this new silver, but we're starting to crave something older again.
We did get a couple good signs that tell us we were close to an old spot. The pottery was early 1800s in spots, we found a clay pipe stem, and picked up several bone buttons... Soon we'll be back at it again, after the antebellum stuff. But it's been fun to dig over $2 face value in silver in a couple hunts, even if it was modern.
Here are the photos and video. Enjoy.
Silver:

CW era (and earlier) bone buttons:

DiggerGirl's great Picket Pin:

And Shanegalang's excellent condition Carson City Seated Dime:

Combined finds, minus the picket pin, merc, two nickels, token, and one of the bone buttons...

Cheers,
The CaneField Bandits
