These tokens were made from the bronze cross spikes from the Constellation and sold for a dollar to fund its restoration. The token was suppose to allow the holder free lifetime admission to the ship which is still moored in Baltimore's Inner Harbor. My father housed all the Constellation's contents in his warehouse during it's restoration. He was given a couple of these tokens and part of one of the original spikes that was not melted down. The man that gave these gifts to my father said the spikes were made by Paul Revere who had a foundry in Boston.

Own a true piece of history . The USS Constellation token was struck from actual medal taken from the United States warship USS Constellation !! This is an extreamly scarce piece of memorbelia. This Medal is in Gem Uncirclated conditon and is absolutley flawless with no wear! Searching the internet we can find no other examples for sale at this time.
is a brief history of the USS Constellation: On September 7, 1797, the first U.S. Navy warship named "Constellation," representing the stars on the American flag, was launched in Baltimore, Maryland. Designed by Joshua Humphreys, the imposing frigate rated 38 guns, combining massive firepower along with the alacrity of a clipper ship. The USS Constellation was capable of cruising at 14 knots, earning the nickname, "Yankee Racehorse."
The first U.S. Naval ship vs. ship victory was claimed by the USS Constellation during an undeclared battle with France. On February 6 1799, the USS Constellation captured a 36 gun frigate off the Island of Nevis in the West Indies.
In another battle against the French, off the base of Guadeloupe Island, the Constellation engaged a killer of the French Armada, the Vengeance, a 52 gun monster. This 5 hour night time gun fest occurred on February 2 1800, and the Constellation suffered 14 dead, and 25 wounded. The Vengeance was totally wrecked and in danger of capsizing, suffering over twice as many losses.
The USS Constellation participated in the campaigns against the Barbary and Caribbean Pirates along with the Constitution. During the War of 1812, blockaded in the Elizabeth River, the USS Constellation fought in the battle of Craney Island and helped defend Norfolk Virginia from British conquest.
The USS Constellation created a legend that birthed the making of many subsequent American warships, including some of the most influential warships of the U.S. Navy today.
