So far no bad experiences, while in the feild, but it will be a few weeks before I can go again, as I had a freaking heart attack tues. Had 2 stents installed yesterday and will be going home sometime today. Sure wish I had a bunch of cons to play with for the next couple weeks.

If that is you in your avatar, you don't look old enough to be having heart problems. Good health and good hunting.

On way to beach to go detecting, sitting at stop light lady behind me decided to turn around and warn her kids in backseat instead of watching where she was going and ran into rear end of my van. $3000+ in damages, but detectors were not damaged. Had 2 custom minelabs excals and sov gt in back of van, $3500 in detectors....

Thanks Oakview, that pic is a few years old, but yes I'm only 37... Way to young for this crap. Heart disease on both sides of the family and 20 years smoking cigarettes doesn't help at all. Drs say my heart is strong, was just a blocked blood vessel. Time to quit smoking for sure.

last year was my only worst year! drove out to Wyoming and forest fires ran us back out after two days dredgeing.the heat in western kansas got to 5 trailer tires. one (new)tire only lasted 300 miles due to the heat. then the fires. meet Reed Lukens in Larime Wy.late but was to wore out to go anywhere else and the fires were all over the place. that cost me $2000. for fuel/motels/tires/ruined food. now my knees/ankels/back are shot! dredge is up for sale, then the trailer if i can sell the dredge. it looks like my dredgeing days are over!

Wow sorry to hear that Drywallman, I recently quit smoking too, you can do it, I used chantix and after the first week of smoking reg cigs on the chantix I switched to the electric cigs cause I couldn't quit like in the commercials lol. They helped a little and kept me from actually smoking, after about 3 weeks I was off of the Ecigs too and I think its been about 6 or 7 weeks now I'm not sure. I weened off chantix over 1 week don't cold turkey that drug if you go that route. Good luck, sorry again that happened to you.

Funny you mention that, because that's the plan. Just got home today, and going for a follow up with my primary tomorrow, to get a prescription for Chantix. I'll heal quick and hopefully be back to the creek in a week.

Hi Drywallman,
I went through that last march. Attack on a thursday, stent put in on friday, home on saturday, back to work on monday. Before all of this happened burned up my tranny pulling the camper to the claim. Still have one vessel 100% blocked but my body made a natural bypass so I don't need surgury. Quit smoking cold turkey ten days after attack. it's been 14 months 18 days since quitting. After 40 years of smoking if I can quit so can you. Glad to hear you are ok, good luck, good health and God bless.

It was $236 with my insurance I'm not sure if my insurance paid for any of it, I got my primary to give me wellbutrin to switch too because its supposed to be similar and cheaper but I never ended up taking it or switching over to it; so I can't say if it helps but consider asking dr about it if you can't get chantix for financial or insurance reasons. I had to get an inhaler at one point when my breathing got short recently with my epic battle with mono and it was $536 without insurance! Luckily I had insurance but can you imagine you can't breathe and they want 500 bucks lol? I would have sold my car to get it. That's someones goldmine.

The prescription drug market is one of the biggest rip offs out there.... Unfortunately some of us can't live with out em.

once returning from resupply fully loaded for mining, drywasher, gen n jackhammer, minelab, n supplys I pull up to my spot and theres a discovery post, I had just left fri before, this is now Monday,
had spent a week cleaning and burning out catclaw from my spot, just hit a pocket, got a 1/4 piece and some gram crumbs, had to go resupply.
this yahoo comes over to talk to me says hed been watching me, he hit a big nugg when im not there, claims my spot and tells me I should of had paper.
after thinking about taking his hog leg out of its holster and slapping him up side the head,

I tucked my tail and rolled my Toyota off over the mnt only to run into a rock and front tire blowout, just wasn't my day.

I got 2 lbs of gold off that spot, all on the surface but I had missed a large nugg.
driving off was torture, and ive always wondered how much gold he found out there?

I have been detecting for a long time and I have a list.

In a wooded area and stepped on a yellow jacket nest. Stung 6 times before escaping.

In the woods another time and being very careful of the poison ivy. However I dug a nickel out of some poison oak.

Chased through a farmers cornfield by 2 wild dogs. I had been warned, but left the gun in the truck.

And stepped on a broken soda bottle neck on the Atlantic City beach. 6 stitches so I wear dive boots all summer. In Jersey beside glass I worry about stepping on a syringe that occassionally wash up. And since Sandy there is debris lurking everywhere under the sand.

Last October, had just got my drywasher and was eager to try it out. Had a great time at my spot, but when it came time to leave I made the BAD decision to explore further up the road. While checking out the the hills in the area I failed to notice the road washed out in front of me. BAM! Bounced my CR-v HARD!
Did a ton of damage; 3 broken engine mounts, tore off the smog pump, killed the alternator (got home on battery), tore something up on the tranny (forgot exactly, but wasn't cheap!) and Lord knows what else. The mechanic tells me it's about $4000 in damage, and they weren't even done with the inspection. To heck with it! I sold it to the mechanic for $400 and bought our neighbors Ford Explorer for $2900. Not a bad vehicle, but the gas mileage is horrid!

2 lessens learned:

1. Keep your eyes on the road when off the pavement.
2. The Honda CR-v is a LOUSY vehicle to take out in the wild.

And for those of you dealing with health issues, I know where you're coming from. Dealing with diabetes now for 15 years. hopefully I have a few more years of diggin' dirt before I have to hang up the shovel. hang in there, kids!!!

Hit a nice size doe on the way out one predawn morning .
Doing about 50 I guess .It flew out of the tree line TOWARD
the truck . Hit the front , the windshield and went over the
truck . Messed my truck up pretty good and cancelled the
gold hunt'n plan for the day . Tore the deer up pretty bad too .
No meat salvage . I've had a few other ruined days for various
reasons . But most of those could be called " administrative "
type problems .

MeteorMiner, did you have any stomach problems while you were on the Chantix? That's the only concern my dr had for me.
Thanks
Dan
