Vintage US Army Medical Box

Wondering if anyone has any more information about this box. I believe it is from the 1950's. I really don't know much about it. Really looking for what they are called and how they were used. It is a great kit but would like to know more.

Nice box. Yes, that is on the old numbering system, pre 1944. Background to Medical Item Numbers | WW2 US Medical Research Centre There are two that recently sold on eBay- $199.99- Vintage Field Medical Kit US Army Medical Department No 93510 Wooden Box Chest | eBay and this one for $36 but it was in the UK, so probably a local sale and the condition was pretty bad, probably been over there since the war, notice the bottom drawer that someone added to it.
