Rebel the link works all you have to do is to click on "Home" The stories will come up. I just read the one about Brentwood, Tennessee.

Can anyone imagine 58 depositories full of Confederate Gold and our US Government unwilling to take a chance to make fools out of us. They are the fools because we are right.

THANKS!

Did the "GREY GHOST" lurk about here...? He DID attend TJ's Academical Village, aka University of Virginia...
CSA Col John Singleton Mosby did hide out in the Lynchburg area May-June 1865 when the Union had a $5000 bounty on him.Gen U S Grant intervened and pardoned Mosby, and Mosby later served as US Consul to Hong Kong during Grant's presidency.
When the Union executed 6 of Mosby's men captured at Front Royal,Mosby responded in kind.Just before the execution(Sept 22,1864) was carried out,CSA Capt Monjoy noticed that one Union captive was a Freemason, and substituted on of his prisoners for his Mason brother.Mosby chastised Monjoy, saying his command"was not a Masonic Lodge".
Incidently,Mosby's birthplace home is up for sale:
Historic Properties for Sale - Colonel John S. Mosby, CSA (Grey Ghost) Birthplace

Why yes he can. If nothing else his name should raise a few eyebrows considering, well, where Champ D'Asile and Laffite were settled. Oh, and he was also John Sherman's uncle. And who was in charge of part of the secret gold shipments from Galveston, why is was, "Mr. Sherman". No small wonder that all of this took place in the exact time frame as described in the Beale Pamphlet.

You can search the net until you're blue in the face, but probably won't find what you're looking for. As I've said in the past, I'm amazed at just how much is stuffed away here and there that hasn't even been fully inventoried yet - "amazed!" And here's the real sticky situation - there are a few people who know where these things are at but you'd better tread very carefully if you ever want to locate some of this stuff. Some curators and private individuals are very particular about who they confide in and if they think you're going to use the information for anything other then what they feel it should be used for, or in the light they feel it should be used for, then it simply......"won't exist for you." Tat and I have both already experienced this very thing.

Why would there be mention of these people? As far as I know, none of them were active participants in the grant or the colony. You won't find thir names on the Champ D'Asile rosters either.

Why plant grapevines unsuited to climate? A failed gamble on olive trees may be acceptable, but grapes have for so long been compared world wide for conditions even to longitude ,that the French could tell us what grape would produce where, as if no one here did not all ready know..With conditions reaching to worse even for humans at Galveston...I,ll borrow ECS,s square peg round hole, only a locust wood peg in a pine timber tenon for a hundred year tight fit to say colony just don,t fit any reasonable attempt to produce any wine or oil.Other than years of waiting for starter cuttings to get established being a nonproductive legitimate delay with other crops mixed in so far its a make work program of pawns.People shuffled with no profit. The top reason for a colony denied. While a Philadelphia group tied to it,farmers don,t seem involved.

Then why did you bring Champ d' Asile into the Beale treasure discussion if none of these people are involved?
Did you read the entire text?

It was a front for a military operation. Not everyone there knew it was that way though.

Tat,you and Bigscoop continue to reply with your "French tickles",but never seem to substantiate, always leave "facts" hanging like a bad script from "LOST".
It is long past time to tie up the loose ends and reveal "the beef",the "smoking gun" that connect these intrepid Bonapartists to the writing of THE BEALE PAPERS and/or the allege treasure.
Otherwise it is just another trip down the rabbit hole to the yellow brick road onto the lost highway back to the rabbit hole to place square pegs in round holes before going back to the rabbit hole.
It all may be just a western dime novel treasure story written for profit.
