Hi all,

I'm so excited about this I can hardly stand it! We've been enjoying the week with the kids (off school for spring break) but I've been going out for morning hunts during the week when the weather is good. We had 2 solid days of rain, but this morning the sun was out, so I was able to get out and slosh around in the mud..I checked several schools (I've been to each one sooooo many times) hoping to find something more than clad. Unfortunately that's all I found, so I decided to call it quits.

As I was driving home I made a last-minute decision to go back to this other school where I had found a silver quarter on Monday..by this time I was really tired and was getting hungry, but I thought maybe I'd spend a half hour or so in the same area to see if maybe I could find another silver coin.

When I arrived I went back to the same general area where I found the quarter, and right away I found a couple of clad quarters and a dime. The ground oozed water with every step, but at least I was finding more coins. Then about 15 minutes into my search (around 12:00 noon CDT) I got a nickel signal..I always dig nickels so I began to dig. To my surprise, out popped MY FIRST 14K GOLD RING! At first I thought it was electroplate or costume (what I usually get from grammar schools), so I feverishly rubbed the mud off the inside of the band. I didn't see anything at first, but even without my reading glasses I was able to see 14K and I was just thrilled..it was a nice sized ring too!

In all, I found $7.14 in clad (29 Lincoln Memorial pennies, 11 nickels, 23 dimes and 16 quarters). I also found a wheat penny (1948-D).

Here's the photos of my finds..hope you're all having a great day, mine couldn't be better!

Nat

Alright Nat!! Way to go!!

It's hard to believe you've never found a 14K before. You had found so many rings last year too!!

I think it's kinda weird too Dan..I found 75 rings in '07. Because I hunt a lot of schools and private yards, I come up with alot of silver rings, mood rings, plated rings, kid's toy rings, etc. I never expected a ring of this quality to be where I found it.

A nickle hit huh|?

That's what it read..a 10K gold ring I found last summer rang out as a nickel too.

Holy crap Nat...that's a NICE one buddy. You dig those type of signals and you get rewarded. Me...well not so much...cause my knees are pretty well gone. Congrats.

I think everyone will be playing around in the mud before too long my friend. It appears that we will have a rather wet spring this year. The ground is going to be soggy for quiet some time I think. I'm thinking of modifying some knee pads from an old life preserver from my boat, you know.. so I won't sink. <grin> Congrats on the gold! Keep Huntin!
