Hi all,
This morning I found out my son (who is in middle school) got straight A's on his report card..I kept my side of the bargain and gave him a small cash reward. He then told me he had enough saved for a little guitar amplifier he's been wanting, so we headed off to our favorite music store and ordered it.
Over the past couple of months I've mentioned the "guitar fund" in some of my posts, and the support I received from you all since then was truly appreciated. Some of you have known for awhile that I wanted to buy myself "a present" with all the clad I've found this year, something I could use and at the same time share a neat story on how the present came to be. It clearly represents the two pasttimes in my life that mean the most to me..my music (that came first at age 14) and my metal detecting, which I began in high school, then quit and started again 13 years ago.
Anyway, after we ordered my son's amp, we went into a room full of acoustic guitars. I saw the one I've had my eye on for about a year now. This particular model isn't in the same league as my Ovation acoustic-electric or my U.S. Stratocaster, but it looked gorgeous and sounded incredible for the price.
Since the last week of December, I've dug up, cleaned, rolled and swapped coins for cash, saving the money it in an envelope until today..I finally dug enough to pay for the sucker so I called the store and made a cash offer for the guitar. My offer was accepted, so with cash in hand, my son and I high-tailed it back to the store, where the guitar was waiting for me. They even threw in a new set of strings
I'll have to dig up another hundred bucks so I could buy a case for it..until then it goes back in the box they gave me after I'm done playing.
My son was kind enough to take the following pics..here's me with the cash before we left
Here is the guitar itself taken out of the box when we got home
And here's me with my new present
It was truly a memorable day..thanks for reading and Happy Hunting!

And I laughed out loud when you mentioned that movie as I'm all too familiar with it! Do you take CASH?? Cha-ching!! And I was careful to heed the sign in the music store.."NO STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN"!
