Delayed start to the day as heavy rain in the morning, but never daunted we decided to drive over to the field of dreams and see how it went.

Well, what can I say, this is the same field as last week, but we went up into a corner near the pond, that we hadn’t really done, the stubble is beginning to break down but it’s still hit and miss swinging.

So we have a lovely lead weight, a rectangle bit of lead and a round lead disk. 2 Thimbles, a battered crotal bell, 2 musket balls, buttons, a lovely heart shaped piece and a round, both have gold bits on them (?) a strange bronze pointy thing?

Then yep the Blossom, is very proud of her Silver Roman coin, 2 possible coins/Jettons and another definite coin, no ids yet… Himself is currently checking his coin book!

Such an amazing field, definitely worth freezing my face off, after a week of work so good to just spend time wandering about, saw an amazing Hare flying across the field, and a couple field mice were scampering around our feet as we walked thru their territory 😆 xx

Congrats on your Siliqua! I see a couple good finds telling me you're in the right spot. The bronze pointy thing is something we get on roman sites known for metal working. We ID them as casting funnels but can also be plugs to bottles similar to them made of lead.

Yeap we call them metal working generically but are 'casting sprues'. Hard to date, as some maybe Bronze Age or Iron Age. But Ancient.
Also there is part of a late medieval pot leg by the Crotal Bell.
