I was just curious what others would consider a good day of metal detecting. And I'm talking about finds. I'm not looking for the answer: I just enjoy getting out. I'm really curious about what others consider a good days worth of finds.

For me, if I come home without AT LEAST 2-3 silver I am probably not in a great mood. Yeah, I'm in a good mood because I got out and had fun, but as far as finds go it's a disappointment. I would also consider 5+ Indian Heads a good day as well.

Of course this question also depends on where you live. I am in the midwest, so I can't find the old coppers like the guys out east. If I were out east I would be wanting older finds.

But a day without some good silver makes me wish I had spend the time detecting at other spots.

A day full of clad and nothing old would personally disgust me. And thankfully, that rarely happens.

When out in the water a gold or silver ring in the bottom of my scoop makes me smile.

ANY day I can get out is a good day :icon_pirat:

At least 1 wheatie, any date.

A good day of detecting for me would be getting an indian head penny or a silver coin. Still have not gotten either but i will one day!!!

im happy with any coins no longer in circulation, but a personel oldest or a first would be a good day!

Just being outdoors enjoying this wonderful hobby. I hunted the other day & found my first 1897 IH. I have been hunting for the last 30+ years.

any day I can home with a silver coin - 2 so far

gold ring - twice

silver ring/jewelry - about forty

an older than 60 years coin - seven

everything else is preety much a bummer

I like any day I come home with a few dollars in quarters.

I've only found one silver coin, and i'm 100% sure some kid dropped it taking it in for show-and-tell, and one wheat penny.

I've found 3 silver rings, which is about 1 per 40 hunting trips. So I don't count on finding one.

I got so discouraged digging tabs that I X'd them out, so I doubt i'll ever find gold.

...and the # 1 answer to "What do you consider a good day of detecting."

THE BANNER BABY!!! :D :D :D

A bad day MDing is better than a good day at work.

Coming home with some change, knowing you probably have cleaned up some trash and knowing that you got to spend some time outside of your house, hopefully getting some exercise swinging and digging.

Any day I can get out and swing the coil is a good day. Makes me happy that I'm still above the dirt and not below it.

I'm getting spoiled.A good day is 5 silver coins,1 or 2 war nickels and about 8 to 10 wheaties.Research, research, research,it made my old coins finds go way up.

Finding at least one merc or silver coin with a design that is not in circulation is good for me. If I go home with four silver Rosie's or two silver washington quarters.......I'd be pissed. One merc or one barber would do it for me. Of course, the more the better!

I figure I am ahead if I get out at all. I am really happy if when I am done for the day that I don't slam the trunk lid on my cable from my hip mount, or drive off with leaving something behind. ;D

Knowing that I haven't torn the pants from the crack of my @ss from all the bending down to recover targets. To me that is a good day of detecting. And yes, I was caught once with the wind blowing through my cheeks :laughing7:

A good day detecting is when I bring home more clad than trash.

A great day is when I bring home more gold than clad or trash.

I've hunted with him once. He sure has some nice parks up his way!
