Help me to post a pic... New to site dont know how. Its a 1889 dog tax tag from dardanelle arkansas. I would like to know more about what I've found here. Someone made us a generous offer. What might it really b worth? We r excited it's worth so much but would like ppl. Who know more to Inform us of ne thing u might know. 1st time posting on here...hope I'm doin it right. Thank you... Tammy look below for more... Can someone let me know how I post a pic on here to show u guys what I found.

Pre 1900 dog tags are very collectible. Depending on the condition, rarity, city, state and the first year/s issued, I have seen them sell for over $500 before.

Thanks Donny. For the info and for posting the pic for me. My fiancé found the tag next to a house built in 1894 in the town next to ours Dardanelle Arkansas. It was about 3 feet down and incased in sand. The sand is what I presume preserved it so very well. I'm proud we found it and as we looked for its worth we could find just a very few tags from the 1800's. eBay customer offered $500.00 but before we decided to take it...he decided not to take it. Our first priority is that We r so excited about the find and am so glad to hear of it's history. He found it using a medal detector. Makes me want to find more. Thanks Tammy

Thank you breezy...very much. Ne one know if these pre 1800's really will bring 500 dollars? had a man offer but waited too long in eBay so don't know if he was serious or not. Someone else on here told me yes. Someone else told me...depends on where they r from. I'm a bit confused on worth of this old tag.

Welcome to the site Tammy. :)

It's like many things...they're worth only what someone is willing to pay! This is a generalization, not meant for your tag as i have no idea about their collectability, but it's possible someone would offer you $500, and the next guy offers $50, the guy after him offers $175...etc etc.

I judge value by eBay. You can usually get whatever it sells for on eBay. Right now there is one listed but no bids yet. Why would someone pay you $500 if they can buy this one for less? Is yours in better condition? Keep a close eye on it to see how many people are watching and the final value. If more than one collector is bidding, you should be able to get the same price. http://cgi.ebay.com/1889-Dardanelle...427?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a68dccaa3

If you list it, be sure to post good clear pics of front and back. You can post as many pics as you please for collectibles on eBay at no extra charge. The single blurry picture will hurt the final sale price of this item.

I just realized that the eBay listing must be yours lol. Is it yours tamkid123? My advice would be to sell it to the highest bidder. Why would you want to give it to someone for less? If he pulled his offer, believe me, he is still watching and/or intending to bid.

You also need to post better pics. The single blurry pic will hurt the value tremendously. Most bidders beware of blurry pics and will not bid.

You also need a counter to see how many people are watching it. The counter is free. .

Post better pics now or pull the sale is my opinion. Once the first bid is placed you can still add pictures but you will not be allowed to stop the sale or change the price.

I see you have added a reserve just in time which was a good idea. :icon_thumright: If the man had placed a 99 cent bid, you would have been stuck.

Try to get better pics posted and add the counter. :icon_thumright: eBay can be a lot of fun.

Is this true?
Is what true? A single blurry pic will hurt your chances of selling. The counter is free. You cannot stop the sale or change the price once someone has bid. I dont know why eBay stopped your sales.

It looks good now with the added pics. . No need to stop it now. http://cgi.ebay.com/1889-Dardanelle...427?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a68dccaa3

Do you have a counter? I dont see a counter. You can see how many people are watching it.

You dont need a reserve but its safe to have one so it doesnt go too cheap.
