I can't determine if its authentic or not. If it is, it's a nice one. As far as value goes, I'm not sure. Nice looking axe!

Hard to tell from a pic if its real or not. I dont see much patina on it, looks kinda fresh to me. But as in the value its anyones guess now days. Check e-bay and see what they are selling for. What state did it come from?

Tennessee, its been cleaned the dark spots are dirt in the pits of the rock

Should of left it dirty. Patina is the best for any artifact.

When you say it's been cleaned, you do mean with water only, right? I can not see any wheel grinder scars on this axe. That is a good thing. I agree with Rock, something about the patina looks strange. I'm no expert, please take my word lightly.

I didn clean it like i said it was said to be found over 20 years ago the guy i got it from said he cleaned it with a tooth brush. Its smooth and theres no grinding marks

it shines like it was brand new....never seen it like that before

Real or not its really nice and makes a good display and conversational piece.

My guess is it is real, no sign of a grinder and some, but not a lot of faking in axes.... Years ago most people cleaned their finds, so being clean doesnt mean not real, 20 years ago many even put a coat of shellac on their artifacts to make them shiney. :BangHead:

Value is always relative as to what someone is willing to give and what your willing to sell for..... Guessing $50-$100.....

I know a guy that replicates hardstone tools and he does it the ancient way by pecking with a hammerstone and polishes it all by hand. All most impossible to tell it from an old one. I believe he told me once it took around 20 hrs. to finish one.
Yours is almost perfect, no plow damage that I could see. If authentic it is worth several hundred dollars.

Its got a few chips on the blade end if the story i got is true it was rolled out with a horse drawn turning plow

Im no expert on hard stone because I just dont find it here. Still a nice piece

Dirt is not patina. lol

It look fine to me from what I can see in your pictures and could be worth some big bucks. Contact Hippy on here through a PM. He collects these types and may be interested in it.

No kidding dirt isnt patina? I never knew

Lookin at around 500 the double grooved axes I think are worth more but I'm no expert HH

Of course the ones I've seen for sale weren't quite as nice as yours so maybe 800 but you never know lol
