Ever since the release of the shield Penny, there are 2 big differences in colors. The natural copper color and a odd light pinkish/salmon shade. Anyone know why this is?

Seems like the salmon colored ones are a lot more prevalent.

Possibly a change of medal. But I always wondered the same thing

Good thing you brought this up, I was actually thinking the same thing. Hopefully there's some helpful answers.

yo, I suggest you compare two of the same year, the difference of the once in the digital picture of the photographic image may simply be because of zinc oxidation/corrosion, which can easily happen in a 2 year period. but, I've noticed the slight variation myself, leaves some good questions.

I assume some cents accidentally get more coating of coppa than other cents
