Kayaked the river after work today. Tried some new spots and scored the silver dime and quarter right next to one another. Went to some old spots and got a toasted IHP at one and the farthing at one of my cob spots. At least fourth or fifth 1600s copper from there

Sweet W&M Farthing, I would love to dig one that size to go with my W&M half penny.

Nice! Yeah W&M halfpennies are hard enough to find. The farthings are super rare finds. I like it !

Ive only got a few W&M halfpence and it appears that the halfpence and farthing was only minted in copper in 1694 though some W&M Irish coppers were minted earlier. I cant tell if its the 1694 or an earlier Irish one. First one Ive seen either way

Congrats on that farthing! It’s nice to even get an ID on a copper coin that old. A William and Mary farthing was my first 1600’s coin, and triggered a metal detecting mania for a few months! Haven’t got out much for a while but since I basically can’t work for the next 6+ weeks it might be time to get back after it.

William & Mary copper - that's nearly as old a copper as you can dig. King Charles coppers are very rarely found at least in New England.

Any 1600 coin in North America is super sweet.
Congrats
