Damn, that's a rare dig! I have been froze up since November, no detecting until April...I NEED to see your video lol

That is a beautiful dime, and with no obvious environmental damage either!

Somebody cried when they lost that back in 1863. It probably would have been enough to buy a meal then.

It's pristine !

No one else asked so I will...
Did you clean it in any-way.?
Also Great job on the photo ,as it shows the detail VERY well.

As grading is subjective ,if you send it off or have it graded at a show I guess you never know what grade it might come back
in..ie, AU, MS60 Details cleaned or environmental damage.

My point is You know what you think it would grade at and as to having it Certified comes in if you are
wanting to market it or would like to know if it's not a fake.

I don't care for a Details LABEL on MY dug coins or purchased ones as to me the word takes away something from the coin right off the bat .. (This is all my opinion)

Never the less you have a Beautiful coin in great condition that I would love to have dug even if it were "Holed"
Congratulations
Davers
p.s Was it you that found the Gold Ounce + Nugget ; If so your (THE MAN) for the moment.
also..IMO -Its worth what a Collector will pay for it. (of course I'd Keep it)

First off--Thanks everyone for the comments!! It's fun to bask in the glory of a nice find!! :)

I just ran it under water and a soft brush.

I am guessing it would come back a XF45-AU detail - "Scratched" Not sure PCGS would even grade it since it is scratched - they just send it back. Plus I am not a member and not really interested is going through a dealer. When I dug this coin I knew it was in great shape but probably could have handled it a little gentler. but I was video taping the dig and put it back down on the dirt for pictures etc so I may have caused some of the slight damage on the back.

I may send it to ANACS just to get a grade but I really don't care. For me the fun is finding the old site and then finding something from that site. The thrill of digging something up (not the value) is what keeps me detecting. Plus I will never sell it so the grade and value is not all that important.

Yes I got the whopper nugget a few weeks back--(same site)

Gorgeous coin Ron - WTG!!

Man what a beauty! I dont know if I've even found a mercury dime that nice!

I figured it was at least AU before reading the other comments. If not for the fact that it was obviously in circulation I would say MS-60. Very rewarding to make finds like this. Keeps you going!!!
