yesterday afternoon went out and found a few things
first two scrapers and a shell ornament bead
the a knife/spokeshave made from TRSS and an old scraper with graver tips

Nice finds Steve. Have you even plowed the ground yet or are those just things that washed out over the winter?

nothing has been tilled very very dry
gonna have to do it soon but very shallow til w/the duckfoot and the stroke control (depth) kept at a minimal 5-6 inches
once this is done in about a week or so it will hopefully rain which will restart the surface hunting process and once again wash off some cool things

Those scrapers are made of very nice material.

the big one is probably petrified wood but could be agate
the one next to it is for sure agate
and the last one with graver spurs is made from knife river flint
also grey chert (or TRSS) are common
and not as common are the real pretty scrapers made from yellow or red jasper
there are lots of scrapers in the sites in the dakotas, i mean thousands and thousands
it is not hard to go out for an hour and find five or so scrapers
