Good thread! It has inspired me to write about how I see things.....
My house is just packed full of old things and I can’t recall anything negative effecting my life here.
However, I am a firm believer of the spirit world but I also have a different understanding of life and the laws of the Universe.
Many will argue about the need for an expensive detector to find those missed treasures at that hammered site, but how many believe in the opposite where treasures REVEAL themselves to those who are in a certain state of mind?
I believe that all the treasures (even the “worthless” ones) WANT to be found by someone with a thirst for history. Someone with a passion to learn about the story behind those objects. Someone who brings the past back to life.
When I pick up that several thousand year-old arrow point, happiness overcomes me and I marvel at the workmanship.
I imagine the person who made it; their life, and wish that I too could be living that life..... away from all this madness.
I try to remember to pinch some tobacco out of a cigarette and leave it on the earth out of respect for what I will take home.
I could only be so lucky that the spirit of who made that point, could watch over me and impart their ancient wisdom!
No different than the time I was supposed to be dead from a major auto accident two months after my dear grandmother had passed away.
As I walked away with only a few stitches to my head, and those around me were pale as though they had seen a ghost, I confidently knew that the spirit of my grandmother was the angel on my shoulder that saved my life.
If anyone is concerned about “hauntings” then I would suggest you reflect on the intent you have behind what you do.
If your intent is to save history from the plow or development and bring it back to life by telling it’s story, then I think you’ll be alright.
You may even put a spirit to rest by revealing its story and honouring them. Who knows?
If you have a lust for money and extract objects in a disrespectful way, then there might be some problems!
Just like all those famous treasures that were known to be “cursed” and brought misery to whom ever possessed them.
Or those who died trying to uncover legendary riches that have never been found. Were they lustful like those who perished during the gold rush days?
Did “gold fever” drive them mad or did the spirits of the earth retaliate because of their greed?
Maybe it’s like searching for the Holy Grail and only those who are pure of heart will succeed.
But then if you can’t pay your bills one month and have no option left but to just trust that the Universe will take care of you;
having faith that everything will work out, then who could refuse a valuable gift that coincidently came out of the ground and is worth exactly the amount of money needed to pay off those bills? Yes, that does happen!
Good Karma is like winning the poker game at the casino and you’ve just cashed in some of your chips! Lol.
I am definitely not perfect but so far the spirits seem to be happy in my house if there’s any even living here.
I do know that some spirits get restless if my good finds stay hidden away in a box for too long.
So I pull them out and give them some loving, sometimes even taking a picture and posting them for all to see. Then things seem to be fine again.
I betcha museums are haunted. All those incredible things locked away boxes and sealed for almost an eternity down in the basement never seeing the light of day again. Scary stuff!
I’ve always carried the memories of those who were a part of my life that no longer live on this earth.
In some way, I know that their spirits have been watching over me and helping me along the way. Their physical shells are gone but their essence lives on.
Just thought I would share some of my “not so normal” thoughts. Ha ha.
Cheers,
Dave.
