1826 Capped Bust Half Dollar: My 1800-1850 Site Pays Off Yet Again!

[Indiana Digger]

Hi Everyone,

Even after last night's soaking rain, I decided to go out to the site I've been hunting for nearly 5 weeks.
This is the same site that produced a 1778 Spanish Half Reale and many other goodies.

I never thought I would top that half reale, but now I'm not so sure.

This rang in on my White's Eagle SL 90 as a strong 85 VDI. It hit and held at 85.
It was at a depth of 5 1/2 inches.

After popping the (muddy) plug, I could see the silver rim peaking out of that gray Indiana clay.

I just about died when I saw the date & detail.

This is, without a doubt, my sharpest old coin.

I'm still trembling.

Happy Memorial Weekend and Happy Hunting,

~Indiana Digger~

Outstanding Coin...Big Congratulations...You were right not to trade for those 70's half dollars...If it was my find...I ould not trade it for two Barber halfs in good shape...Awesome find Mister.

[stagger]

Indiana Digger- That is sure enough an AWESOME find. Those halves are just stunning and yours appears to be in great shape. Congrats Sir!!

[Indiana Digger]

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

I'm inspired to find more.

Right after I post this, I'm heading back out to this site.

At 6am.

On a Holiday.

When I could be sleeping in.

Curse this addiction.

[HCW]

Big Congrats for that sweet baby!!! Is that a die crack on the obverse? If so could be a rare variety!

I agree. BANNER.

[kilmer]

Trust me with a spot like this a lot of us would give up our sleep on a holiday weekend to swing a detector. Good luck. I say a gold coin is the next amazing thing to come out of this spot. Update us when the next treasure has been recovered.
