1857 Seated Dime, Great Shape, it's a Love Token.

Spent 2 hours going low & slow with the joey coil & TTF around a 'New To Me'
foundation, a center hearth with massive granite doorstep
Just as I was about to pack it up after finding two buttons amonst the iron,
I get a good surface signal next to a sapling, move some leaves, spot the coin.
Pushed out by the roots, or flew off someones shovel (mine?) I don't know,
many times a root snaps unexpectedly and my plug goes skyward
Anyway, a nice coin with some not so romantic handwork on the reverse.
(when I remove that black stuff stuck to it)
searched around another hour & got a spoon handle, sheeps bell, broken plow point
& an oxshoe.
Happy with this hunt!
My first 'Successful' foundation dig, (this one is pretty remote, & not on all maps)

That is a nice love token. I think the black spot on the back (or front of the coin) is solder from where the pin was attached.

James, I'm thinking you are right.
other than chipping the high spot off, none of my methods touch this material.
Any Ideas on getting that stuff off ?
My 4 inch grinder would do the trick
black solder on that lovely AU face

You never know what's gonna turn up, the last thing on my mind was a love token.
I moved the leaves, & could see it was a Seated without moving it,
got my phone pic, (who changed my resolution? ) then picked up the coin & was pretty shocked when I saw the design. I really wish there was an original there in that kind of shape too
This is my first significant find from the dozens of foundations I've tracked down & searched.....
Makes me want to revisit all of them..
We are really fortunate to live up here where there are so many history rich opportunities

I think the, "not so romantic handwork on the reverse" is really beautiful!
The button is a nice find and so is the bell!

That is a sweet find nice button to. I found a love token myself this spring made of a 1 dollar gold coin it has sodder on it in two places. a fella said he could get it off but i dont wanta mess with it. Probley my find of a lifetime. Heres a pic sorry its so big i dont know how to down size. Any way thats a super find Congrats

Remind me again in a couple of months how lucky we are to live up here.

Seateds are a rare dig for me aswell herbie. I have dug more capped busts then I have seated's. Which is weird where the capped bust was only minted for 38 years compared to 54 for the seated's.
