Nice going KirkTN, that's an oldie!

Nice Buffalo Kirk. Careful that date will come off if you try to clean it. I found a 1917 buffalo last sunday. Good luck on the new site.

Great finds KirkTN! I haven't found any old coins yet. So far, all I have found is a 1941 Quarter, so I have a lot of firsts yet to come. ;D
WTG!

Hey Thanks yall. I found my first one last Nov. I have now found 6 buffs ;D

Great finds. I'm still looking for my first buffalo too.

In all my years of diggin, I have never found one of those dirty old things, and I dig alot of nickles. It's one of my goals for this year.

Nice find.

Nice old Buff Kirk. A readable 1917. :o :o :o
You're having a good week.
Congrats,
MM

Nice Digs as usual...You've had a good week. Congrats and HH this weekend

That is a nice buffalo, and don't clean it any more just like DiggingFl says. I've been detecting for 5yrs, only have a small handful of them to claim too. And you got one that still has full horn, Sweet!

I dug a lot of buffalo's just in one year. Once you dig one they start coming easy. Here's a tip do not wash your Buffalo's with any water or liquid it tends to make them bright red. I use just a dry soft bristle brush now.

Keep @ it and HH!!

dang good Kirk... nice buffalo tooo

Cleaning your 1917 Buffalo

I discovered this method of cleaning nickles completely by accident, you may want to give it a try.

Be sure to use a glass or ceramic container with a flat bottom (I use an ash tray).

Place your nickle in the container and pour lime away on it, flip it over and pour some more on the other side until your nickle is submerged, it will foam up a bit, don't panic!

I leave mine in for a few hours and it will have a white film on it, then I rinse it off under tap water and lightly rub off the film with my fingers.

If you like the way it looks make sure you thoroughly get all of the lime away off!, if not, throw it in for a couple more hours.

If you overdo this method it will start to look like its been sandblasted.

If your nervous about trying it use some dug clad nickles first and experiment with it.

BTW...nice nickle!
