After washing a load of dimes, I noticed this error coin.
A Roosevelt dime, that makes the ol' boy look like he has muttonchops...!
Not a subtle error - stood out like a sore thumb...! :icon_thumright:

Looks like it may have been in a fire. The heat will cause the outer clad layer to separate and bubble up. Is the reverse normal?

Normal reverse, with no corresponding indication of a fire, but a remote possibility, as the "D" mint mark is not convincing... . Yeah, the reverse is harm free...
I guess i will scan it, if you want. Would be happy to, really...!

here is the reverse, with no apparent damage, other than heavy use before getting itself lost...! :laughing7:
The dime still is a bit dirty....

Definitely heat damage in my opinion. There is just no place in the minting process where that could happen.
