1989-D Lincoln Cent - What Am I Seeing

My daughter sent me this picture hoping I could ID it as an error. I'm stumped, maybe someone here can help. Sorry, the picture lost a little clarity when I copied it from Facebook.

The area in question is between the rim and the top of the letters GOD WE T. Your help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hey flinthunter, I am sorry to tell you that you and your daughter are seeing machine doubling, not a doubled die. It occurs when the die moves a bit during striking. It is very common to mistake this and I myself have done it, but you can see how it is shelf-like, typical of MD.
