Ok. its official we have a spot to dig and camp. The original spot that I hoped for would be camp private property and dig BLM. That location fell through.
Fortunately I have gotten access to some BLM land via private property. I have a friend who's father has generously given access to a family claim.
This claim has been owned by the same family for more than a decade there is a lot of history of mining in the area and it is a cool geologic area and on a gold producing creek. One of the best in El Dorado County.
There is ample room to camp with some access from fording the creek with 4x4 and walking in. We will be prepping a LIVE MUSIC area. And a cooking/bonfire area.
Otherwise this will be a PRIMATIVE CAMP we may dig a latrine and will make sure to provide limited potable water if we can. Otherwise it will be B.Y.O. COMFORT and everything. Firewood will not be an issue fires will be allowed at individual campsites as well.

The entire event digging, camping, and all will be on BLM land anyone attending assumes all regulation and liability!!!!!!!!!
There are a few rules and details to discuss in private.

Main rules are
NO METAL DETECTORS

NO DREDGES

No dogs that can't handle a common camp.. (owner flat out says PITBULLS = MUZZLE but we can talk)

So, I wanted a good shindig. I tried last year because of the mining summit but, alas we had like 20 people. I can ramp up and plan lots of fun if this thing grows any legs...I wanted this year for the private property to charge a for sure fee to weed out flakes and give owner some cash. With all proceeds including a Bazooka raffle to go to the Bnuggets (Brandon Rinehart)Legal fund and do a small grocery/can food donation to his family. I contacted him so he would know. It looks like I jumped the gun and it won't be quite what I wanted. I invited him and will remind him before the weekend.

Like I said I can orchestrate manage and plan. Depending on who contacts me we can potluck, have a raffle, get info out whatever this is just a way for me to try and get people who love gold prospecting/mining together, make connections and spread knowledge and brother(sister)hood.

So, we have a spot! The attendance and hardiness is up to the individual miner. I will answer general questions on the thread and technical info via P.M.

There will be panning sluicing and power sluicing. I will see if I can get a couple scoops of material even.
There will be a lot of bazooka's around but, please feel free to bring whatever gear you run. I might even set up a finishing/clean up station and panning tubs.

DATES April 10-11-12

Location El Dorado Co. 6 mi. from Coloma details given to firm attendees

I look forward to hearing from any interested miners:headbang:

Had a great time even considering I dumped all my fines back into the river by accident. Good crowd. No one got out of hand or made a scene. Every one work together. basically a perfect event. Great place to camp. Good gold as well. Maybe next year of not sooner.

Thanks Todd, grandpa and Asher for letting us hang out there.:goldtrophy::headbang:

GoldenMojo, thanks for spending the afternoon with me on the creek, as always, I appreciate you! I was going to get a pic of us but I forgot... Next time!

Last but certainly not least... I'd like to put an Extra Special Shout Out to GOLDWASHER! None of this would have been possible without all of your hard work and desire to bring like minded individuals together. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I can hardly wait for next year and I can only imagine it superseding this year! Let me know what I can help out with and let's plan early!

Great pics looks like a good time was had by all. I think ya all are creating a monster that's keep growing. Way to go! Reed definitely gets the award for style points with the pizza oven!

GREAT TIME!!!!
thanks to all who made it. Sorry I missed Paulinonuggets I had to go to my sons game for a few hours. Nice to meet a few new people. A lot of easy conversation and great stories. Not the richest spot and you have to hunt for bedrock but, there was color to be had.
I ran a 25 gallon sample Friday afternoon in an area that had the only bedrock showing, surface sample pan had half a dozen specks and some really fine stuff. The large sample showed decent flakes and dozens of colors a lot of fines and as we all saw this weekend no matter what you ran a lot of black sand!!
Brandon and his dad got there Friday evening with his PAUL BUNYAN BACK PACK BANKER It was up and running Saturday all day and part of this morning. Decent clean up s I wish the hole threw some larger gold. There was a cool quartz pebble with some gold showing. we didn't get any mercury did get some lead. Nice looking bedrock wish we could have opened more up and had a chance at some good crackin'.
Brandon is a really nice guy his dad is too. Nice to see a dad and son out enjoying them selves together. Brandons power sluice could not be fed fast enough and we flushed a lot of heavy stuff into the hole that we didn't get to clean out all the way. so we must have missed putting some gold in the box. What we did get all went to Brandon.

All those that went that paid that admission fee.... I initially gave Mel the bulk because he was letting us access the claims. I gave Brandon some money so his gas was covered for sure...But, I heard Mel being the great man he is ended up giving it to Brandon. I didn't talk to him about it in person so I hope I'm not jumping the gun on that comment. But, I want to remind every one that handed me money that it all went to them however it ended up. And if Brandon did end up with all of it he at least gained a few hours of lawyer time. So, Thanks to all! I wanted this to be a way to help him somehow and get those of us who know each other together in one place with new people mixed in as well.
Mel and Todd were very pleased and as the claim owners had no issues.Maybe a few holes not dug properly for personal business next time that will be set up better. View attachment 1146195IMG_0578.webpIMG_0579.webpIMG_0580.webpIMG_0580.webpIMG_0585.webp

Not a better way to spend the weekend! Was the perfect spot with some of the coolest cats around!! Diggin' and the gold was just an added bonus..
MUCH thanks to Goldwasher, Todd, Mel, Ash, Mojo, Jim for making it all possible and was an absolute pleasure meeting everyone else!
Aufisher, had a blast hammering the bazooka with you again buddy! Here's the hole when I called it quits Sunday afternoon.. Cleaned out nice once again!..
I do have one complaint though.. With as much fun that was had, only one bash a year isn't enough:tongue3:
Thanks again to all!

Not one for regret but I regret I didn't attend last year... I enjoyed everyone immensely.. I got a chance to speak to everyone except one.. Just couldn't think of anything to say but anyway I look forward to the next Bash..

Background conversation had to go... Anyway about to head out and pack some stuff out just to pack it in elsewhere... Thanks again for all who made this possible...

Wow, the more I learn about who was there and what was done, the more I see a missed opportunity! The end of my working days can't come too soon!
