3rd Annual Treasure Hunters Cookout

Fear not Cornelius. We still have two months to go. Like prior years, interest spikes during the last two weeks.

I'll be at the 1715 fleet contractor's meeting tomorrow and likely will see a few old friends. I'm not interested in securing a contract for myself this year, but I do want to stay informed.

Aquanut

John , if you would be interested in becoming a contractor , which area would you be interested in ? How much would a contract cost ? Just curious ! Cornelius

You will need to have watercraft liability insurance in the amount of

$300,000 that names 1715 Fleet - Queens Jewels, LLC as additional insured and certificate holder. This certificate will be attached to your contract.

All crew will need to be registered. Each crewmember must sign a waiver of liability indemnifying 1715 Fleet - Queens Jewels, LLC against injury or death and submit to background checks.

Each subcontractor must have at least one designated Data Logger. This person(s) will be in charge of data recording and the submission of log-sheets and artifacts. We will do an onboard inspection of the vessel where the designated Data Loggers/Artifact Handlers will need to demonstrate their ability to use and take accurate readings from a DGPS positioning unit.

$1000 contract fee.

----------------------------------------

Once these requirements have been met, we will then set a meeting to sign the contract.

Subcontractors will choose their exclusive areas to work. These areas will be 300 x 300 feet. A maximum of two exclusives will be assigned at this time. Once these areas have been thoroughly investigated, you will have the ability to choose a different location based on availability. No work will be permitted outside your exclusive area and any violation of this policy will result in the contract being suspended or terminated.

Cornelius,
I just read Fisheye's post and know he's usually well informed. I'll find out the details tomorrow.
I worked this fleet in '94 thru '96. But I also lived in Sebastion at that time. Setup expenses are quite high, living accommodations and or travel expensive and with fuel going out of sight this year, along with the $1,000 fee, I think I'll pass. Besides, my big boat sank during Hurricane Frances back in 2004.

Theres some questions that need to be brought up at the meeting about the watercraft liability insurance. From what i understand with getting a lease with the state that the lease holder HAS to have this insurance with the DEP and Army corps of engineers in order to own the site lease permits and to renew them. This is in case your boat damages the reef or ends up on the beach so the insurance can pay to restore the damage(its kinda a scam cause you know they wont repair it)Then the part for the insurance that names 1715 Fleet - Queens Jewels, LLC as additional insured and certificate holder gets to me too.Sounds like in case your boat damages the reef, since Queens Jewels, LLC is named on your insurance as additional insured then they are liable for any damages also.

It's time to get back on subject. I didn't get to spend much time with some of the folks that I'd like to have during and after the 1715 Fleet Contractors meeting, Signumops and Fisheye in particular. But I know they'll be at the cookout so I can talk to them then. I did manage to extend invitations to several treasure hunters that weren't aware of the cookout and one archy that found out he was welcome in spite of his profession. That'd be Jim Sinclair. I was hoping to interrupt a few other intense conversations to extend invites but I didn't want to be rude. I missed my chance at inviting John Brandon so if anyone sees him, let him know, O.K.? Again, I want to say, all treasure hunters are invited!
I'd also like to hear from some of you guys that couldn't make it last year, like, pcolaboy, sabre15, bigcypresshunter, Limo Bob, Relic Hunter, Divewrecks, Fla-Gal, Trez, alpha105, Skull& Crossbones, Diverlynn, elle, CappyZ., Florida Bill, Bikerlawyer, Diver Down, Chagy, just to mention a few. I'm pretty confident that everyone that's been here will be here again. But near the end, I'll definitely need to have confirmation, because I wound up eating Ribs and Chicken for 5 months after the last one...

Fla-Gal

Aquanut, this will be my first one. I wasnt even close to coming last 2 years. I hardly even looked on here the last 2 years. I retired 2 years ago, and have been really busy (sounds stupid) but I have put on well over 2000 miles on my boat, and been diving a lot. And I have put well over 10,000 miles, probably 150 miles almost each day for last 2 years, at least once a week, sometimes 4 times a week, on another boat, my commercial spearfishing boat. I was a paramedic/firefighter/fire rescue boat captain/rescue diver for 23 years for the Sarasota Fire Dept. This warm weather and warming water is getting me ready to dive! I will be over in Palm Beach tomorrow, spearfishing and lobstering, first time since Christmas since I actually dove, I dont think wading while detecting and boat bottom cleaning count. Water has been cold. Almost as cold as last years winter, but never that cold. Cant wait to see everyone. We should have a call out to see who will bring what, and then try to fill in the blanks, once it is a little closer. I can cook good, and will bring what ever is needed. Maybe my treasure hunting partner Lynn will come too.

Aquanut, you can count me as a confirmed guest, heck it is 2.5 miles away, I could probably stagger home drunk from your house... :laughing7:

If I had know you had that much food left over, I would have invited myself back to help you eat some of it.... :laughing9:

John,

How does 5month old chicken taste?

stevemc,
Glad to know you're coming. I plan on supplying the main fare, but additional stuff and help is always welcome and as this thing grows, I guess, necessary. TH, you need to stop by more than once a year. LOL.
sphilips, stop by September 30th and find out!

I live 2000 miles away as the crow flies. I'm taking a plane to Sun N Fun in a couple of weeks, then wont be back until end of May for my Granddaughters high school graduation. My timing is just not right! Chicken will only one month old by then ::)

aquanut can always "freeze" a plate fer ya. --heck a month in the freezer is no time at all. ;D

Heck , 2000 miles is nothing . I am travelling 5000 miles just to be at the cookout . It is worth it to meet all you guys . Cornelius
