Hey folks, I just want to get opinions on what you think is a good sell price for 40% half dollars in today's market.
With silver at $32.97/oz, a 40% silver half dollar is worth $4.87...

I know dealers need room to make money too, what do you think is a fair price for me to sell my 40% silvers at?

$4.25? $4.30? $4.50? please add the prices you would personally sell at! Thanks.

p.s. i know some believe in holding onto their silver, please don't start a conversation about that.

I would just throw 'em on eBay. People pay ridiculous premiums over melt on there for EVERYTHING.

Provident Metals as of closeing Friday was paying $4.60 each with spot at $33.21.
My dealings with them have gone smooth.
Personally, I'd sell at $5 ea.

provident metals is the way to go. Ebay + paypal = 12% fees, plus you'd better get insurance on shipping. Craigslist you might actually be able to hit spot on!

I was considering selling to a local dealer for $4.25-$4.50 each, do you think that is a decent deal? I don't really trust shipping my coins out and getting a check in the mail.
Thanks for the ideas!!

Personally, I'd hold out until they got back up to a spot price of $5 each like agme said above, but whatever makes you happy; if you're happy, you made a good deal.

Insured registered mail works best. I was a little leery the first time but had no problems at all.

I would try to get 5.00 each for them, people ( probably not coin shops) are willing to pay that for them in a large quantitiy. I have recently considered selling some of my 40's for some cash, I was going to try to sell 200 of them for 1000.00 on CL. I don't know if I am yet or not, but If sold mine, that is what I would be doing. Good luck Buff. Maverick.

Provident is great- registered ship is expensive tho. Try to do Craig's w/ local pickup. Might get best $/coin that way.

I sell all mine at spot value via coinflation on craigslist. Works like a charm.

that auction will end like everyone thinks.

500 max bid

seller will get ~ 450 for their efforts

I was showing him more for the " look what people will pay" side of it, not so much " look what you can make" side of it. HH, Maverick.

I think it will go for over $500, because people are crazy. I think maybe $510.

There is another channel that is worth mentioning. The Nucleo Exchange provided by Bulliondirect. They charge only 1% of the sell price. Sometime you get more $ than what Provident pays.

thanks for all the comments!!! I think i will go and not accept an offer under $4.25 each, there are about 20-25 dealers, i am sure some won't want the 40%ers(or offer very little), some offer a cheap offer, and maybe one or two that offer closer to spot..
will let you all know what happens!

p.s. comments are still welcome! i'll check this again in the AM!

On a side note...be really careful with high value transaction on eBay. One of my friends got busted few weeks ago. He won a GAE proof set and it turned out to be a complete scam. He had spent countless of time trying to get his money back. The scammer, in this case, was frikin' smart. That crook knows the system real well. My friend almost lost his money. Paypal didn't help much either.

I placed 3 rolls on Craigslist, they sat there for a few weeks. Finally I gave 'em up for less than 70% of spot, about a year ago.

i just sold 10 rolls for 4 dollars per 40%

Last week I picked up 150 40% Kennedys for $4.30/per, I thought it was a good deal considering I picked up for about 14% under spot.

Now, if it were ME, I wouldn't sell for less than 5. I called a few LCS's and the best offer I found was $3.00!!! Worst coming in @ $2.50.
