I got together with "brooklyn digger" yesterday at a park that has given both of us Silver in the past. We know that there was once a home on the property through research and the fact that Large Cents, Indians, and relics have come from one small area. After spending a couple of hours trying to locate some old Silver in the area where the old house stood, we had only a few Wheat Pennies to show for our efforts.
We moved on to an area that has some hills overlooking a small lake.
It took a little while but The Silver finally showed up in the form of two quarters. The first was a shallow 1927 Standing Liberty Quarter. Although it was tarnished and discolored, I was still able to make out a clear date. Not six inches from the location where I dug the SLQ, I got another shallow quarter signal. By now "Brooklyn digger" is watching me in disbelief as I retrieved a 1944 Washington Quarter from less than a 3 inch depth. Funny how you can go a few hours with only a few Wheat Pennies and then,, BANG,, you got Silver. That can make the whole hunt.
My buddy "brooklyn digger" was not to be outdone. He kept at it and sure enough, an hour after I found the quarters, he called me over. It was one of those "Calls" that says,, "Look what I found!!" Yep,, he had the find of the day in his palm,, but I'll let him tell you about that in his post.

Hi Time Machine... I didn't see this post before... Funny, how much we have in common.. I just found a Standing liberty quarter and a Washington quarter 2 days ago, that I haven't posted yet... WOW...

Great hunt congrats on the silver! I agree how it's funny that you can hit wheat after wheat then boom....silver. Often after you hit one boom....another. thanks for sharing as well

I hope the lady is resting comfortably in a nice new coin holder.

I put every silver coin I dig into a coin folder and then into a looseleaf binder. I purchase my clear plastic pages of folder holders from WIZARD COIN SUPPLYS.

Don't know how I missed this post:icon_scratch:.. SLQ's are my favorite coin, period, and I love seeing them posted- yours is AWESOME! Congrats!
