I’m not sure if this is Treasure related, Historical, or just my imagination getting the best of me, but thought I’d throw the puzzle out and see what the community comes up with.

I inherited some photos, along with accompanying notes and directions to their location, that have piqued my curiosity. They seem significant, and apparently were to the person who left them to me. So I thought it would be interesting to post them here for discussion.

Again, I’m not sure if they relate to Treasure or are just an interesting natural formation so ideas are pretty much open, you won’t hurt my feelings either way.

I think some just get insecure when they have lots of viewers but little interaction. What they are failing to understand is that viewers are participants as well as posters. It’s showing interest in their post. It should be encouraging, not “stalking”. It’s a sad post that gets no views. If viewers are ‘insignificant to your purpose’, why post at all? I guess some just need the security blanket of public acknowledgment.

Regarding your circle, thanks for taking the time to look them over and offer your thoughts. It’s an intriguing puzzle for sure.

No story unfortunately, just the photos and location (SW NM) and some notes I’m unwilling to share just yet. The area has some NA history, and legends of an important burial. There is also some Spanish exploration in the area, mining history as well. I didn’t want to influence any opinions one way or another so just posted them up as they are for conversation. Love your take btw, I needed the laugh, thanks. 😂

I don't know, I like yer pics, but I may catch a lurk sometimes, happen to have an extree blanket fer loaner?
Think I make out an interesting Eagle outline, & other curious stuff, like a head & face, how'd nature do all that?
Be nice ta' get to see some pics of that spooky Buffler cliff jump off spot too, like one of the awesomest...

Thanks for looking CDS, I see what you are calling the eagle resemblance. To my imagination it looks like it’s protecting something, what I haven’t figured out yet.

You must be joking about the blanket. Of all the threads I’ve seen here you don’t seem to be concerned about a lack of participation in your own thread. You post what you want and don’t fret about it.

I didn’t take any pics at the Buffalo Jump. It seemed to be a special place deserving of reverence, so I left it as I found it.

It’s a vertical cliff face at roughly 8K elevation. Here is a better shot.

It's no secret that's North Florida Peak. A guy from Deming I knew 25 years ago did a lot of exploring in there and gave me info about where to go to find some real interesting petroglyphs (he said). He didn't have any photos, but he carefully drew them for me. As I remember, they were more on the east side of the ridge. I'll have to search through all my stuff to find his sketches and whatever notes that go with them. That's winter hiking country, as it's too hot in the summer and can be full of snakes.

Lol. If it were, it’s not now, is it? I find it hilarious you felt compelled to reveal the location in an attempt to ‘one up’ everyone, including myself. It’s a pattern of behavior I’ve noticed in your other posts. No biggie, was never a secret to begin with. I only withheld the location out of my desire not to influence opinions on what they were seeing. But of course, as usual, you’ve made sure to insert your own influence. Bravo.

Now that you’ve made your ‘big reveal’….have you actually been there? From your description I’m betting you haven’t. It’s a bit of a climb for old bones. I’ll wait for your borrowed notes.

Here's the sketch. Nope, I have never been in the Floridas. The guy's sketch was too vague for me to try to follow. I thought I had some more notes too, but I'll have to wing those from memory. The guy said he went in from the east side (maybe NE). He was looking for any evidence he could find of the Apache cave that opens up down in the Tres Hermanas - the one they used to escape from cavalry patrols back in the day. He was also looking for gold - I don't remember if it was a cache or a deposit. The Apaches didn't carve petroglyphs, so the gold thing must have been Spanish or whitey's. If anything was Apache sign, it would have been painted.

As I recall, he mentioned a place called Wildcat Canyon or something like that. I don't know where that is on the sketch. If you've been in the Cookes Range, you should be familiar with the "lilo" carving. The authentic ones are Spanish, but many are modern, some dated, done by a Deming deer hunter back about 50 years ago, or more.

Maybe things are coming back to me. Just had a couple thoughts for what it's worth, if anything. Those two mounds with the "eyes" on the right side of the sketch kinda reminds me of what Sappo (Frog) Canyon in the Cookes Range looks like from the south. Also, the zigzag arrow thing at the top right seems to connect to a figure with an arm and a head towards center right. This might match Happy Man at the Pony Hills petroglyph site, also in the Cookes Range. I know we're talking about the Floridas here, but . . .

Not really, even though I sense you would enjoy being a burr under my saddle. My feelings aren’t hurt so easily, that’s just wishful thinking on your part.

Not interested in the Cookes, or alleged tunnels, or just about anything you’ve just described. You seem to have some difficulty sticking to the subject, which is this particular spot. I’ve asked for opinions on the photos, yet you’ve beat all around the bush and not offered a single thought on them except for revealing their location. I’d already mentioned there was NA, Spanish, and mining history, but thank you for fleshing that out (useless as it is in regards to the photos). Maybe I wasn’t clear enough on what I meant, so thanks for digging up your notes and diagram but I’d rather have your opinion on the subject matter in the photos if you don’t mind.
