Philly's too far from the ocean. I'm lucky here (CT), even though the upper sand sometimes gets frozen, too (even though it's 'salt').
At least the wet (tidal) sand is usually OK (except when the wind/surf deposits sheets of ice along the shoreline - like the last time I drove 90 minutes to a new beach I'd scored at. Read the paper as I ate doughnuts and watched the seagulls!)
Think 'happy thoughts' - spring is near...and I do fell your pain.

3 inches?? man, that's brutal, it was almost 50 degrees here Wednesday, Oh, wait, we got TEN inches last night, with another FOURTEEN on the way tonite.....I swear my dog has started cursing at me, and I am running out of places to dig holes in my livingroom floor, or I am slowly losing my mind from cabin fever.
