Just sitting in the car while a passing shower makes it's way past...my 22 year old Fisher is NOT water resistant in the least! Been hunting for about 2 hours and am just getting used to swinging this machine. Back to a site I've been hunting for the past month and still hitting targets!

Find of the hunt so far is the numbered pewter military button! I don't find these nearly enough so I was thrilled to see this one! IP...please educate me on what I have! BTW, so you see anything in that first pic that you like Iron Patch?

This does not help, but I'm tryin', just found a site with 127 good pics, of rev war buttons, no 76, but you might like to book mark it for you future reference.

Revolutionary War buttons

It seems that the only pic. of one on the web is the one Devonrex found, goes to show not an everyday find.

Thanks Rick...I've had that bookmarked for years!

Yes I did miss that one, amazing the lucky dude got a handfull of them.

Romeo post up more pics of that nice copper when you can.

I will...I'm just having an internal debate on how to clean it. I'm pretty sure the back is decent as well but it's under some seriously hard soil. I know that HP will remove the soil but I'm worried about losing detail on the side shown.

Can't complain with a numbered button and a copper with that old a date so visible!

Wow Romeo, you had yourself a fantastic day and another magnificent find for Button week on TN. Congrats.

If your worried about the "good" side don't put it right in the HP, just use a soaked q-tip on the other.

I just finished a thorough dry cleaning and the other side is basically worn smooth. Just the bust barely raised...glad the good side is what it is!

After hearing about IP scoring Military with a back up detector...now you and the pewter. Is it Retro Week? If so, I'll break out my backup and try for a nice military too!

:D

Go for it...seriously...we could be starting a trend!

Ah yes, the backup detector comes thru, think a few of us over the years have experienced similar happenings. :) Congrats on the Rev War button and your James II Irish halfpenny is rather good shape, despite the other side being worn down. My son found one eons ago and I believe yours is in better shape. Couple years ago I found the 1680-84 Charles II Irish Halfpenny but in bad shape, I believe a fellow NJ hunter found a decent Charles II in the past year that I believe more Charles Irish Halfpence have been found than James II ones, but could be wrong on that memory bit. :)

...or a detector junk yard! At least we won't be closing the year on a bad note.

With finds like that you need to upgrade the Fisher to #1. Love that copper, and that button is one heck of a find.
