beach advice for a beginner?

I'm new to MDing but am going to beach on the 15th. Somewhere between Pawley Island, SC and Vero Beach FL, depends on weather where I stop. Just purchased an MXT PRO and would like any tips or advice you may offer.

Here's an example of winging it on vacation guy style....true story....first vacation to Barbados....bunch of crazy single guys....bought the ticket ahead of time....just threw a bunch of clothes and accessories together at the last minute...

Get off the plane and it's like a blast furnace....cab it to the resort....mid afternoon and unpack...oops forgot to pack shorts and/or swimsuit......minor annoyance look around the kitchenette....find a pair of scissors and cut of the legs of my jeans....voila now I have a combo shorts/swimsuit....lol.

Off to the beach for a dip and a few cold ones.....heck I think I started a trend....convinced pretty much everyone I met to do the same thing....then we could recognize each other from a distance.

See it's not that hard.

It's a ying/yang thing.....my wife is completely rational and super organized......me I'm more spontaneous and off the wall....she tries to straighten me out....and I try to make her zany like me......so far it's a stalemate.....but it does keep things interesting.....lol.

Another spot worth checking out if you make it that far south in Florida....there's a great little pub/restaurant right on the beach in New Smyrna, FL......it's called The Breakers....after a business trip me and another crazy Canuck stopped there....the young gal who served us was having so much fun with us that her and her mom joined us after her shift
and the 4 of us closed the joint.....

The best fun happens when things are unplanned....who knows maybe we can convert bbcamay.....but.....then again I'm an eternal optimist....lol.

I am just too OCD to not have plans for a trip like that. I don't think I have ever booked a hotel the night I needed it. Tickets, events, activities are always planned in advanced and if my family would allow me, I would schedule something for every hour of the day when we are on vacation.

The best times I've had are when I was lost!!

only 4 more days till I leave ( ok no crying please). I found mding is ok from Pawley Island to Tybee Island (projected landing area) if too cold will have to hit florida.

Just keep going south until you get in the area where Cat and bbcamay live....heck if you don't have luck detecting maybe they'll treat you to a beer.....hard to beat that good ole Southern hospitality.

Bill, I think bb already has a protective order issued. I don't want to be arrested for stalking.
And anyway sad to have to tell you my trip has been canceled due to surgical necessity for someone very close to me.
