BTW, Iif you don't find the marriage record on ancestry, you can try the st louis county library (slcl). They have an archive of church records. I don't think the records are digitized, at least when i searched them, so you have to manually search images.

1. Since the Beale story is so sound it is either true or the perpetrator was very knowledgeable.
2. In early posts, we discussed William Becknell who opened the Santa Fe Trail in August of 1821. Since would be an excellent source of traveling to Santa fe when the story took place i asked...
Were the journals of William Bucknell published? Yes. The intelligencer in Franklin and the Missouri Historical Review in 1823 located in Columbia.
3. Since most believe James B Ward is the perpetrator, i asked..does James B Ward have any connections or travel to Missouri. The response is above.

If thats commendable okay. I call it looking at both sides of the argument/issue with as little bias as possible.

The pamphlet never says it. It says Virginians, “old Virginia,” and Buford’s in Bedford. That is not a hometown west of the Ridge, and it is not a documented man.

There was a Thomas Beale from Fincastle Virginia, next county over from Bedford, on the other side of the Blue Ridge, in the western part of the State. There’s documentation, although it being somewhat speculative to say with certainty, I believe this is the Thomas Beale being referred to in the 1885 Pamphlet.

Yes, that Thomas Beale is the one, I think most people believe, could’ve been him. But I am not in that camp, however, I do believe there is something with the Fincastle, VA area.
