Hey all, just getting into hunting and I'm addicted. I've already stayed up all night all night on two separate occasions researching some Native American artifacts that my great uncle unearthed on a Farm in the early 1900s. I recently came across a great new site in the woods that my friend and I are going to try and metal detect on. There is an old wagon on the property that is completely full of old bottles, most of which (at least the top layer or so) looks to be painted soda bottles from the 40s and 50s. I've been researching bottle hunting the past couple days and I think I've gotten a feel for dating and identification. Half the fun of treasure hunting for me is finding the story behind the artifact and the culture who left it there, but I can't look at a load this big and not see potential dollar signs. Is there any demand at all for bottles from this era or should I just keep giving them to my mom as presents...

Hopefully we'll get back out there soon and I'll post pics of the oddities I recover as soon as we do.

I've been reading around on this forum the past couple days and am excited hear from you guys and trade information.

the mountain dew bottle with full moon & hillbilly is worth more than a pretty penny. most are just fun, some can bring bucks. Don't plan to make a living off of it.

Thanks for the replies! Yeah, the wagon is awesome, but it's at least a half hour walk through thick woods so unless I take it apart and carry it out piece by piece it's staying there forever!

If theres an artifact with historical value, I would take it even if you had to take it apart.
