Re: brass acorn

Holymoly 225 posts so far.
Personally, I don't think it is spring loaded. I also asked the original poster on the other board where they found the photo. I'm sure this is a dumb question, but does anyone subscribe to Western Eastern Treasures, you could...
Send photos, documentation and SASE to...

MARK PARKER
c/o Western & Eastern Treasures

to get the answer?

for a weapon it just doesn't have the azz to do anything...pulling a chain that size would not do much and it would only prick

Or grab.

Remember my posts about bolas or casting net weights?

I have not investigated. Maybe you are right, :-\ not enough air holes. But I remember the last time I was in church, about a ...er...uh...30 years ago, give or take a decade, and the priest was walking down the center aisle and shaking a smoking acorn, or round shaped brass thingy on a chain, reciting some unintelligible Latin verses. I remember.

That wasn't a brass acorn BCH, that was the Holy Grail.

Re: brass acorn

I liked the incense theory, but after been so many times in church I can tell you that the one used in church is much bigger 6 inches x 4 inches approximated and made of silver. By the thumb in the 2nd pic we can tell the size of this thing. I still think its for poking holes on something. Heres an idea its a tool to work with something related with strings, you pull it out to separate them until ready to tie and then you push in.

Best,

Chagy.......

It has been a while (church) but I think you right. Its bigger, and my Dad says they don't use it anymore. :-\ The original poster went out of his way to login for the first time to tell us this. That is something to think about though.

Cypress mentions that original poster (Steve001) logged in on this forum to post picture just recently.
No, I was speaking of whittapp, who logged on for the first time to tell us he has a simmilar incense burner item in his church blog.

Re: brass acorn

I hate every one of you! Doc told me to look at this for a laugh, and I've been at this for about two hours. Right now tears are in my eyes and my stomach hurts from laughing!

Maybe it's a squirrel anchor? The Victorians liked to keep animals in their yards. Just tie this little baby off to a tail, and when the squirrel tries to run off, the spikes come out and dig into the ground, thereby preventing the valuable squirrel from escaping?!?

Now I'm looking. God.....I hate you people! ;D ;D ??? ??? :-[ :-[
