Hi,

I just found this site and joined. I was hoping someone could help me with identifying this rock and future finds.

I found this in Northern MT. My guess would be some kind of Indian hammer, but for a little kid since its so small. It obviously used to have a strap or something tied around it. Its smooth, except for the under side which has some crusty growth.

Do you know what this is and used for?

Do you know what this type of thing would sell for?

:hello: Welcome to TNET!

Your rock is just that. the inside layer is a softer material, therefore it will erode/wear away quicker than the outside layers. I have found many examples similar here in Montana also. I sincerely do not think that your rock has been fashioned by man, but you should have no problem in finding Indian artifacts here in MT. Good Luck! :icon_thumright:
