can you identify this coin/token

i have clue what this coin is, it was a quarter signal at a site that ranges from late 1700s to 1900s. It appears to be a person standing upright looking to the left on one side and all i can make on the back is seaweed?? any help would b great!!

Interesting find! It looks like a 1/4 Real / Quarto/ Quartilla coin of Chihuahua (Mexico).

Btw These coins may have been produced at the private mint in Belleville, New Jersey so that could help explain it.

I agree with Bramblefind.
There are three types of this coin; two are of 26mm and the third is 24mm. The dates range froim 1846 off and on to 1856. The least valuable reads: ESTADO LIBRE DE CHIHUAHUA. It is this coin that Bramblefield refers to (illegally struck in Pa. but circulated in Mexico. ) The second variety reads: ESTADO DE CHIHUAHUA and the third (more valuable one) reads DEPARTAMENTO DE CHIHUAHUA. They are referred to as State Coppers.

It's research in progress based upon the existence of this token - listed with the Canadian Blacksmith series. A bouquet sou design muled with the Chihuahua coin. Many of the Bouquet Sou coins were produced in Belleville for use in Canada. They are also known to have produced coins for South America (Brazil), Haiti and other markets.
