Took the family to Christmas on the water Saturday night.
Noticed some areas where some recent construction occurred. Decided to go dig it Sunday. Best find was this wedding band. It looks like white gold, but it has no makers mark. Possibly worn away. It hits a solid 35 while running 8khz. A nickel rings up as a 50, so it’s in the gold range. Gona try to go have it tested soon. What do y’all think.

Update: thanks for the kind comments everyone.
So I took it to a pawn shop to get tested and the guy had a magnet that would make the ring move. My magnet at home would not do this. Perhaps his magnets is stronger than mine.
Since the ring moved we never tested it for gold. Still thinking about letting a friend test it with his test kit. But I’m thinking it’s not white gold.
Sigh.
Could white gold have any magnetic alloys in it?
It sure did look good.

I had the same thing happen once, so I asked the guy to try his magnet on some of the white gold items HE was selling. Guess what, out of about 7 items he tried, three reacted to his magnet! Two of them had very reputable makers marks. So then he acid tested mine...14k!
