I can't get over how lucky we are to be digging on December 28th…the latest I've ever detected… Managed to get out with hunthicks and another local detectorist at a few new sites.. a couple of flat buttons at the first site with a 1812 token taken out and a couple of buttons but it was recently tilled and will wait until Spring until it's raked, another new Colonial site gave up a silver spoon but hard to get makers mark off it with cell phone camera and also this neat button… Went to the site we went last week and only pulled out a few musket balls with hunthicks finding the best find there… then went back to the site where I found my spanish silver not long ago and managed this more modern military button and just before dark, again I pull out this cannonball, hunthicks must be thinking I'm planting these suckers…this is my 5th one this Fall, all from different sites…other finds include the usual flat buttons, musket balls, crotal bell, 1913 silver 5 cents, rosettes and buckles and below the silver plated buckle is another piece of silver that must be off some buckle...

Goodness, gracious, another ball of iron!

Congrats on the ball, as well as the fishie & spoon it was a good day out for you and especially this late in the season.

It was a pretty good day out, even if it was pretty wet. at least it wasn't cold and the ground wasn't frozen! You've been smacking those cannonballs every time out, but not surprising in that area. I still don't know why my detector reads an ox shoe or any other medium piece of iron as a diggable target but those smaller cannonballs show up as foil. Then again it sometimes sounds off on cow patties. Needless to say once I figured that out I now have a pouch full of foil!
I'll get mine posted up here in a few!

Nice finds thanks for sharing.

Nice day of relics.

I had a cow pie signal the last time out. After I shoveled it off to the side there was no signal left in the ground. I decided to move on at that point ..... haha!

It took me way too long to figure out it was the cow pies making my detector ring. The only bad part is I have had a few nice targets underneath em!

It's pretty easy to tell you haven't had too many if any disappointing hunts this year!
And as for the cannonballs, you sure are consistent; the trophy for finding those just might be on your shelf this year

It's been crazy this Fall with finding those, the other detectorist with me found 2 of them with me…now watch, I won't find more for a long period of time…funny how things work...

Already is.... no one is beating 5.

Very nice finds. Enjoyed looking at them.

Nice work! Are the small cannonballs you're finding 3 pounders?

The smaller ones are 4 pounders Buck....half of all the cannonballs I find are 4...but have 6,8, 12, and 18 pounders

Sure wish I could have a "usual" day like that!
Well done. 👍

Don't get me wrong I do get my drought season too when the finds are few and in between, meant usual as the area has been very good to us and these are the typical finds coming out of there this Fall... I don't take days like this for granted and was quite pleased with my results...
